As someone who plays both EVE and DUST i would like to propose another Idea for EVE that would raise the profile of DUSt with in New Eden. Its not a new idea - I must point this out.
I would like to see DUST battles represented more within New Eden from the Get go, straight from the pub battles that occur. Even if CCP have said that its only the same LP currently.
I propose that when a battle begins in DUST be it PC, FW or pub a pair of warbarges (ok Battle Orcas since no one knows what a warbarge looks like) cyno jump into the district satellite. These appear on the overview no matter in the system you are as a beacon.
EVE players can then warp to the barges which will belong to the fighting corperations and you will be able to right click on the barge and get a menu that allows you to see the names of the team fighting for that side, Maybe join comms with them but will also allow you to place a bet on them.
The Battle ends, there are winners and losers, the Barges Cyno out again.

Overly complicated, relies on people warping to and staying by static locations in space at lowsec.
Bad idea.
If you think there's interest, go ask the owners of EVE_bet to open up a dust match section.
That being said, I don't think there's enough interest by EVE players in betting on Dust matches to justify adding this mechanic even if it only took an afternoon jam session to implement. |

Gambling makes it look like DUST mercs are a bunch of pitbulls in an illegal, underground fight.
You are technically, though not formally, already gambling when interacting with DUST. You put your ship at risk and you spend (irrelevant) isk to obtain ammo to shoot dusties.
The link between DUST and EVE is not profound because the interference in one from another does not produce any nontrivial changes. Albeit, flipping all the districts can amount to a large shift in FW system contested rate, this only become relevant during a system push that has already failed. Because any real system flip happens in a matter of minutes. Cos capitals > iHubs. Nothing is lucrative between the DUST EVE link though.
I think a good potential DUST->EVE link can be tied up from the newly introduced Industry teams. Currently these become available from auctions. What if they were taken hostage? Someone might want to pay DUST mercs to extract those teams to push the industry sector into a different system. Someone else may want to pay another DUST corp to oppose that notion. Expanding it further, an EVE corporation that bet on the hostages being delivered into the new system might have set up there and will work hard to disallow anyone else in, hence controlling the industry sector and the profits associated with it due to the shift in the industry teams. The costs, profits and such would have to be tweaked to make endeavour lucrative.
Sorry for hijacking. |

Lowsec matches would give higher payouts of course but you wouldnt have to sit and wait once the bet was placeed... of course there would be risk involved as you are potentially making money of this.
Public matches do happen in highsec as well you know which would be safer and lower payouts. |
