Edited by: Rehmes on 06/09/2006 19:11:31 Im not too familiar w amarrian ships but ill tell u what i can. Destroyers are mainly antifrig and they cannot take much damage to begin with. Having said that u need a long range set up (use long range lasers) ull usually instapop frigates. Since ur limited w one midslot id say use it for either speed/webbing if ur doing npcing. For the lows try to set up dmg modifiers and one small rep. Honestly dont bother setting a tank out of this ship because their not meant to tank. Since it has 4 lows i believe id prob put 1 small rep and 3 dmg mods or 2 dmg mods and a damage control unit for more longetivity. Against npc cruisers itl have a bit of a rough time but itl usually make it (im assuming mostly lv 1 missions here). If u use it for pvp dont engage anything thats bigger than a frigate, once u have the right skills ull destroy any frig in one volley. IF they get too close just leave u cant take that much damage. As for cruisers id say save enough for a maller and skip the omen (regardless of how sexy it is) because the maller owns and the omen is just there to look pretty. UNless ofc ud rather use the arbitrator (u need some drone skills for this and basic ew skills). Hope this helps and welcome to eve.
* Many will tell u destroyers suck. they are somewhat gimped, but if u got decent skills itl pop interceptors and make em cry/curse u for life.....

Thanks for the welcome and the tips of course.
Well seeing that my initial setup is an bit flawed i will have to spent some time in the dock fitting some new toys.
As for the Maller it sure looks sexy but ill have to shoot rats untill next year to make that kind of money :P

Not really, Get into mission (security missions are usually the best imo) and ull make enough in no time. make sure u get an agent w good quality and ull be set. I believe it took me 2 weeks to make what i needed to buy my rupture (minmatar top cruiser) equip/insure it. At 1st i had crap modules but as i went into lv2 missions i set it up w nice toys...

Good mission outfit (close range)
8* Dual light pulse AB small rep, EANM, CPR, Whatever plate you can fit (or a second EANM or a HS)
With somewhat developed cap skills, you can use the ab to get close, and cut loose.
Long range: 8* dual ligh beams AB Small rep, EANM, CPR, (and whatever you can fit, I like a HS) With skills, this one shoots over 20 km with microwave crystals (27 km's with T2 duals and Sharpshooting 5). Far enough to kill most frigs at a range,a nd even cruisers on lvl 2 missions. Use gamma crystals for close range work, multi-F's will eat your cap.

Of course, that kinda wastes the Optimal range of the Dessie.
You're much better off fitting beams -------------------

Yeah. Unfortunately, there's no way you gonna squeeze 8* Med beam on a Coercer. :(

Yes you can.
Fit 4 reactor controls and have AWU lvl 5, then the 8 medium beams will fit.

God having to remember way way back now....
I honestly found it better running Dual Pulse and or Dual Beams, and I did enjoy having dual beams on it. Med Beams are not so good for 2 reasons. 1. Destroyer's have more cap then a Frig yes, but not enough to compensate for the 3-4 turrets to DOUBLE that with only around a 40-50% cap increase. Which is one of the major complaints to destroyers. 2. Its much easier to fit with a decent tank, and their tracking isn't that bad. Also Beams are much easier for new players to use where as distance keeps them alive easier being able to get out of harms way faster, where as when you're up close, a major mistake can cost you a ship fast.
so try a setup close to this
8x Dual beams (best that you can afford to lower fitting req and cap use) 1x Afterburner 1x Small armor rep, 1 Energized Adaptive Nano, and the rest try to fit in a mix of CPRs (Cap Power Relay's) Heat Sinks, and passive resistance modules. Also if you need, learn what you're about to fight and what damage types they use, so you can put specific resistances against that NPC type.
Like Gurista's use Kinetic and Thermal, Sansha use EM and Therm, etc.
Now just remember this, a Destroyer I enjoyed after learning 1 thing, keep the enemy at a range, I mainly used Infrared with this setup to keep them at over 20km, the only downside is that distance doesn't really help much if they are using missiles. __________________________________________________
