Im typing this on a phone so please forgive any typos
Hi o/ im curious if having a buddy or alt sit in a logi frig rep me would make a burner mission any easier
Will i then have a significant edge? So much so that no burner could best me?
Or is it not worth the effort as the burners deeps are way to much for one logi frig to rep
One does not simply, Cope with the scope

The burner will switch to your friend very quickly. If you take logistics, take two. Each logistics frigate will need to be tanked with resists and buffer, to allow for the salvo damage of the burner. Be prepared to lose ships, but take heart in the knowledge that each logistics frigate only costs 10M ISK or so to replace.
For some missions you will start st point blank range, so make sure you send the logi in first. For the Blood Raider burner you will face neuting, so make sure the tank is based on passive modules.
You will need 180+ DPS from the fleet, and the burners will eat your drones alive. So don't bother carrying drones for burner missions :)
Apart from that advice, have fun!

There is a thread here about recommended fittings and tactics for burner missions: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=369477&find=unread
If you can not build one of those ships, you can compensate for lack of DPS by bringing more friends in combat ships, and lack of tank by bringing more friends in logistics ships.

When I initially started burners I took an alt in a navitas as "back-up", just in case the smelly stuff hit the fan; now I've gotten into the habit of taking it along even if I'm fairly comfortable that I can deal with the burner using just my DD. From my limited experience so far of the burners, the ones which operate at long-range (I'm thinking of the Guristas burner here) would make life much more difficult for the logi compared to the brawlers (Blood and Angel) which have a very limited range and thus let you orbit at maximum remote rep distance without fear of being blapped.
As Mara mentioned though, the burner can switch to the logi very, very quickly. What I tend to do is send the DD in first, then the logi 5 seconds after, and immediately burn away from the pair once out of warp. From my recollection the aggro switch can be anything from 2 to a dozen seconds after the logi warps in.
And to answer your final question, if you already have an alt or a friend who is willing to help out I'd say it definitely gives you an edge, as at the very least you won't need to over-heat your tank. As Mara mentioned again, that thread she linked contains a treasure trove of information regarding optimal fittings and the like. Hope that helps somewhat. |

Ugh .. I haven't touched missions in a while but I did a couple of these today. 2 out 4 burners I ended up with slivers of hull left - it was touch and go and I was resigned to write-off the ship (a Daredevil) as a loss. Both occasions, it was a minor technical mistake on my part (due to the unfamiliarity) which tended to snowball ....lol, the last one I burnt both my hardeners and repper (don't ask, it was an accident :P) and was coasting for around 30secs at 30% armor left. Phew!
At max skills, these burners are pretty tough unless you have all the proper assets organized to deal with the various variants and do them semi-safely. Even then, one mistake ... poof. Still, they're pretty good in terms of LP to make it worthwhile to set up those assets.

heh, I burned out my launchers so many times the first few burners, thankfully it was a kite garmur vs the team burners, so I only had to deal with the repair bill... although I did get a bit over confident and was watching a movie and drinking beer and well.... yea, at least I think I'm isk positive vs burners now.
I'll join the chorus asking CCP, don't take my fancy names away from me!

It's much easier and effective to put that alt in a griffin loaded with racials and warp it in once the burner is hard tackled.
That said, I still don't find them remotely worth the hassle. |
