Well, to be fair, it is probably me who sucks, not my ship. :P
My problem is as follows:
I am a two week old n00b who just got the qualification for Galente Crusier III. So of course I jump right in and purchase a thorax and 5 spiffy new medium turrets (Dual 150mm). My problem now is that I cannot seem to hit the broad side of a barn, and I am running slower then a snail. The only way I seem to be able to kill anything is through drones, and since I am going at such a slow rate of speed, it takes nearly an eternity to finnish even level 1 missions.
Here is my current skill set:

Am I making a mistake in using medium turrents? If so, what types of shipd are medium turrents supposed to be used against? If they are supposed to be used on smaller ships, like frigates, what am I doing wrong?
Any input would be great.
Thanks,
Fox

Depends on what you're shooting. Your gunnery skills aren't That bad, although they could use improvement.
Alot of people will say 150mm Duals suck, but personally I like them, and my Thorax with 5 150mm duals works very well.
Most in this topic will suggest blasters. -------------------

Use a named web to slow enemies that get too close, and use at least 200mms: dual 150s suck pretty badly.
Use an afterburner to speed up.

Ok nice character ill start bidding..
1 mil
Think you get the point though...
Normally i would say fit electron and a 800mm plate, but i was a noob myself (once) and they didnt hit for **** and i had no clue on tracking...
Basically use a 5X small railgun (125mm or 150mm) than fit 1600mm plate in low and use rest of lowslots to harden up against the type of damage your facing. it will probably look like this:
5X 125mm/150mm railgun 10mn ab (npcing/deadspace), web, caprecharger small armor rep, hardener, hardener, 1600mm plate, cap relay
This should keep you from dying...
Dont forget to train medium drones and i would suggest using 5X hammerhead. _________________________________________________

If you're doing Level I missions you're fighting against frigates, your guns are cruiser sized and therefore will have a relatively hard time tracking.

If you're fighting frigates, switch to 150mm's or 125mm's right now. You'll find yourself hitting with amazing accuracy, as long as you're in range. -------------------

That is the reason your thorax has difficulties. Youre character is too new to fly a cruiser effectively. Id suggest honing your skills in frigates while you train up. Thorax in skilled hands is one of the nastiest t1 ships in the game pound for pound.

Well if that's your complete skill list, your problem might be that you don't have any levels in medium turrent skill.

As the above post implies. All i can say is jus tbecause you can fly a ship, doesn't mean you are skilled enough to fly it properly.

Use a frig or destroyer for your lvl 1s.
Thorax is middling mission ship when you get to IIs, use a Vexor.
Before using a Thorax for PvP get Cruiser to IV, Engineering to IV and M Hybrid Turret to III and quickly IV. Also train some cap and navigation (such as evasive man) skills up to III or IV. - - - -- - - - -- - - - -- - - - Little known fact: 95% of DS's signatures have nothing to do with EVE. |
