It's official. We are all required to be happy and excited about CCP breaking the 30K mark. Unless you're willing to post your congratulatory notes on this subject Forum Moderators will shut you down.
This from forum moderator wystler: ---------------------------------------------------- CCP accepts constructive criticism, but out and out unsupported arguments are counter productive.
You should also be aware that there is already a thread for discussing the 30k PCU mark being broken.
As such this is being locked as redundant and unconstructive. Thanks for your understanding Smile. ----------------------------------------------------
My 'unsupported argument' was about the near melt-down tranquility suffered during their peak.
I love eve but wow they got some a**h**** who claim to represent them. wystler indeed.
So now we know the rules: Only one subject per thread. Don't complain. Smile

Same here. Lots of disconnections which were relatively unheard of, even back in Exodus or the beginning even of RMR. - - - - - Yarr? |

I'm sure the problems had nothing to do with the server-killing insta copying last weekend, or the two patches in the last week or so. ----------

Seriously, what is the purpose of this thread?
If you don't realize what is causing the server problems, educate yourself.
And threads about moderation will get you warned or banned.
Get a grip.

I give this thread a rating of 9/10 of the potential to Lock-o-meter.
I have to say even though I was in both Empire and in 0.0 during the 30k record, and on a lowly Lagtastic 3g data card (384kbps with 1200ms ping times to CCP) that it was running as smooth as it has been over the past week or so.
No noticable lag in that respect and if the system was so badly lagged surely I would have felt the repercussions of it quiet quickly with timeouts etc. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

I do hope that you read the news section when you logged in. They are experiencing network maintence that is being performed by their ISP. Expect some disconnects today and possibly tomorrow. The drop in TQ the other day was due to mass BM copying.

correct me if im wrong but thats 12 seconds of lag ?
might look smooth to you but with that much lag you can be dead in combat and not even know
not having a go at you or anything :) but i was getting upset teh other day cause some guy had a ping of 160 in a fps game as was still hitting me, somehting that is rather unlikely when hes that much behind 0 time

I have a feeling your argument was just you crying like a kid because you dont like the lag. Exacly like this post btw.

Reliability is a different issue then capacity. They can be related in some circumstances, but this does not seem to be one of them. I know several people got kicked off last night (about the same time the new splash screen came out), so there is something to complain about. Just make sure you complain about the right issue.

Im amazed this thread hasn't been locked yet.
However, I am tending to agree with you, after the amount of bannings recently, some for 'offences' that weren't even against the forum rules (ie, posting killboard links).

First off there is no base or facts to what you are talking about infact i never get CTD do to the number of players on at all ! Plus when you day that ccp is doing this or that to you and try to say there is no rule you must be a verry new player and never have seen the forum rules in your life ! Why not read them a good many people have taken a lot of time and hard work to put them there for players to read and not have to say such clue less things . why not ask your internet provider they you get drop so much .. and as for Instas and Bookmarks that every one seems to cry about why not just make it so the gates and bases can not be bookmark at all.
i think ccp and all there workers are great it seems its some players with poor starter skills that do not know what there doing on the forum or in game.
please have a good day and have fun..

Your wrong, 1.2 seconds approximately. It's an unfortunate side effect from working away from home and being away from the 10mbit pipe I have. I regularly run tracert's to CCP to see how it's running before I logon so that I know what I can and cannot do at the time.
But hey I didn't buy the card expecting blistering speed, just the ability to logon, trade and sometimes fly around.
Maybe, just maybe some people playing need ot not let thier expectations exceed the capabilities of whats going on at the time, which is what I expect the OP to be doing. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

Correcting you since you are wrong: That is 1.2 seconds of lag
As for the OP:
Most shards of other MMOs hold about 5k to 10k people concurrently at most, so I dont see any problem with announcing this as achievement.
Does CCP have problems with lag? Yes. But so does every other MMO. It just comes with the technology used, if you pile enough players together who have to exchange data over central server you will cause lag. Some games can handle more players than others before becoming laggy, though, and Eve is handling more than others.
Having that said, in my opinion one CPU for all objects and players in a solar system doesnt scale very well and people will lag each other out. If CCP wants to push the 30k barrier, they either need to upgrade their hardware again or introduce more dynamic load balancing - load balancing during downtime using extrapolation based on historical statistics is way too unresponsive.
I didnt have any lag at all when there were 30k players online, though - but I did avoid Jita, and some people in corp got stuck entering Jita.

Well, at least ccp usualy don't delete threads and bans people as soon as they say something negative as companies such as NCsoft does. That's one of the main reasons I abandoned them.
