It's probably simply that they don't want profanity associated with EVE and CCP. I mean, people swear all the time in-game. But, when it comes to the eyes of John Q. Public, they don't come and see a bunch of incesent ramblings by somebody cussing every other word. But yes, a company can reserve the right to remove the offensive matterial, but they are never legaly liable for it since it is a public forum. I agree that hate speech, racial slurs,and even sexual explicit launguage should be culled. But to take the editing to the point that ccp has, editing parts of words that have a sequence of letters that somehow makes it a bad word. One such word is "c o c k p i t" , the piloting area of a vessel, is*****pit according to ccp. same as the other snig name that has part of a racial slur sequence of letters, but within the whole name, is not bad, wrong, or insulting to anyone. While they promote violence, racial undertones, imoral behavior, in the game (not as the main focus, but is still part of the game), they censor the forums to the point it irritates many people. Why? CCP doesn't wanna be seen with cussing people in the forum or game, but they want the game to have a bunch of sensless killing, grief, theft, scamming, all those upstanding things society wants for us? No one wants a forum/game full of hateful, racial slur slinging trolls with fulger mouths, but there sure is a line that is crossed with censorship going too far, no matter where you live.
