Well, I adapted to the plodding pace of this game and the endless warping and the sitting alone amongst rocks for hours to make the pitance to purchase a little corner of Eves universe....slowly, AND I MEAN SLOWLY I got into a cruiser, bought a frigate to move my ore and was a happy lil mining drone, spending HOURS!!!! mining away mindlessly...then, one day, on a run to get some ore, u know, one of those mindless runs I've done a 100o times already, some lil jerkoff disables my warp and blows my 3/4 million Freighter to bits! So, someone tell me, WHERE IS THE FUN!!!! cause I'm just not seeing it! For ALL the work that goes into building up, all the mindless hours of gameplay, shot to hell by a pirate!! a profession I'm told is ENCOURAGED...like, what kind of frustration is this? Well, put a big bounty on his head they say...like, ya, so a friend can kill him and they split it...I think u really need to look closely at this little career choice, cause it just cost u a paying palyer, and I'm sure I'm not the 1st over this reason and I'm sureI won't be the last.

same happened to me when i got my 1st indy but it was due to a CTD so I was REALLY ticked, but a 3/4mil freighter can be replaced in a couple hours at most so dont worry too much.
your 1st ship death is usually a painful but necessary eye opener to the world of EvE. I think its MUCH more fun having to fly around with eyes in the back of your head as opposed to setting a destination and goin for a nap.
Its really not too hard to avoid the gankers if you are prepared. Get a few warp stabilizers for your indy and you should be good to go. You may have to wait out a blockade or 2 once in awhile unless you are willing to make multiple trips in a MWDed cruiser or frigate(frigate preferably because they are cheap).

you must have been in a low sector mining to have been attacked - you don't walk into the bronx after dark and expect everyone to greet you with open arms, if you want nice safe carebear games then go play against a computer set on easy so you can win all the time, when your ready to play with the big boys let us know ;)
Millennium is Recruiting..... do you want to know more?

Edited by: Ethen Hunt on 19/10/2003 11:21:11 Sorry, I agree with Apoca. When you leave high Sec Space you know the risks your taking. Basically what 'Daynan' wants is the profits from mining in the lower secure areas but without any of the risks. Well tough!!!
No one should ever have any complaints, clones are cheap and so is insurance for freighters, which would have cost you a couple of 1000'Isk Tops to cover your losses. So off you go, play against your AI games, and go back to using F5 for 'Quick Save' you obviously need it. Your no loss to Eve anyhow.

I'm leaving Eve, so i'm not really in a position to say 'Don't worry carry on'. But I will say it, just so you can experience some more of Eve and see what it has to offer. Not so much game wise but more socially :/
Join a corp, get a chat server and have hours of fun with corpmates. I dare say minings not so bad when your having a convo on voice with mates and takin the **** outta eachother.
However in the end, the games utter lack of content and fun will bring you down. The problem i believe, which you have demonstrated so well here, is that its too hard to get the stuff you want, and so much easier to loose it. It should be balanced - and not in the way most ppl want - but in that it should be a lot easier to get wot you want, and still easy to loose it.
PvP = fun, Eve has no proper PvP atm.
Peace and love x

OK same thing happened to me yesterday. I've only been playing for 3 days & had just bought a new ship, nothing fancy just better than the one you start with. As i was aproaching a stargate in a 0.3 sector BOOM outa nowhere my ship gets destroyed & my pod does the jump, fact is I wasnt carying anything & at most he probably got a couple of n00b railguns.
Sure i was mad but...
1. Its a VR game and tbh it aint that far from the truth, just set in space thats all (and u have the option of turning it off).
2. I belong to a Corp & that Corp has friends in many systems so the dude who thought it was a good idea to blow me up because I'm a n00b & he needed a bit of cash is now a marked man & I will have the last laugh!
Revenge is a dish best served cold... Or in this case served up by someone with a bigger ship than me! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Getting suckered like that is unfortunate and it can do a lot of damage to a new player who may not have the resources to replace his losses. However, anyone mining & doing freight runs in a low security area has to consider piracy an "occupational hazard". Simple advice: if you are not prepared to risk your ship & cargo, dont travel in a low security area.

1. Dont fly what you cannot afford to lose 2. Get insurance 3. If you can't afford insurance, then you can't afford to fly it.
