Anyone who has played EVE since its inception in 2003 have witnessed numerous changes to the game in the form of minor updates and major patches. Given that these updates have changed the character of the game I thought it might be entertaining for newer players to read about how things used to be in the "old days". So, all you guys and gals who have been around since 2003, feel free to post your memories/experiences of the EVE of old. Here are a few quickies to get the ball rolling.
Battle ships used to be the largest ships in the game and cost around 240,000,000 isk to purchase
Omber roids used to be found in 1.0 space and .9 space (at least thats my recollection)
3000 peeps online at one time was the norm
ships emerging from a jump gate weren't cloaked

No Concord No sentry guns Mines Arkonor, Bistot, Crockite, ... in .6 Static spawns that are announced in NPC logs Missiles with collision detection (launch, ram, wake up in clonevat) Missiles (especially torps) with blast radius No missions No loot Ridiculously low NPC bounties but fantastic spawn timer 0.0 with no npc Sneaking into Jove space Promises of storyline arcs Working radar in the lower right hand side of the client instead of the Overview Ships not powering down when you eject No stacking penalties m0o Chasing Tank CEO around - and being chased Seeing j0rt run when someone didn't cover in fear No mwd Pirates asking for ransoms --*=*=*--

I know that it seems shocking now, but when Eve was released, the Amarr Empire actually had an Emperor!

I remember when :
There was no autopilot. CCP would adjust prices on inflated NPC buy sell orders by hand. you could stack MWD/AB Domi's had 10+ drones out at a time POS's didn't exist. Mining in high sec was the ONLY way to make any money. insta's were called longwalkers. And you knew the guy who first thought of it.

When you have been proud to own a Scythe Cruiser ( bought for more than 10.000.000 isk ), and most the peeps were flying frigs. When you could find almost everywhere free Researchlabs. When there were not many Playercorps around, and you had no probs to find a station where you could rent a hangar.

Double spawns.....
That and chaining.... like hammering npc's spawning solid for 10-15hrs at a time.
So many times i cleared the top amount of npc's killed in the last 24hrs in the system i did this in.
Double spawns were kinda strange, i remember losing my rax down in period basis to one.
I was trailing a spawn like you did back then.. hammering away with the 250's... i realy wasn't watching the front view... dam 50k and his friends spawned in front of me ______ Long ago one gorgeous night, we let the stars grow free. We let Zhuge do that once, he came back carrying a traffic cone, a forsale sign and three empty bottles of dutch lager. He also lost his Zimmer Frame... - Imaran

The circular donut status indicator on targets. No guns at gates, but rats instead in low-sec. Market Map, with the high and low prices highlighted. Selling omber for 5isk, and being happy that I got THAT much. Killing the NPC convoys outside stations. NO SHUTTLES!!!!

I remember hundreds of things, but the most memorable was looting 1,000 harvestor drones, when just getting done talking about how I wish they were in the game so I could have some. :) --- ArcticWolf, member of Eve since February, 2003.
