I'm sure technically, ANY ship can, but realistically, I mean.
I guess this breaks out to a 6 part question:
1. What FRIGATES can Shield tank in PvE? 2. What FRIGATES can Shield tank in PvP? 3. What CRUISERS can Shield tank in PvE? 4. What CRUISERS can Shield tank in PvP? 5. What BATTLESHIPS can Shield tank in PvE? 6. What BATTLESHIPS can Shield tank in PvP?

There are over 170 different ships available to players. Are you really expecting someone to go through every one of them and detail its tanking capabilities for you? Maybe this would be better if you could explain in broad terms what kind of information you're looking for and what you hope to accomplish.

1. Harpy, Hawk, Merlin, etc. Most frigates, but the mentioned have extra bonuses to it. 2. Hawk. Real answer is "none, you need mid slots to fit propulsion jamming"
3. Exequrour, Celestis, (know too little about Minmatar), and most/all Caldari cruisers. 4. Moa, Cerberus, Eagle, Muninn, and Vagabond.
5. Dominix, Tempest, Scorpion, and Raven. 6. All of the above.
By this, I mean "reasonably good at it". The requirements for PvP is a little higher than PvE. - Base insurance payout: 40% of ship base price Platinum cost: 33% of ship base price Platinum payout: 100% of ship base price Ship base prices can be found in CCP's Item Database. |

Basically what it comes down to is...
"Got Midslots?" -------------------- Juffo-Wup fills my fibers and I grow turgid. Violent action ensues.

Originally by: Ithildin Muninn
Despite the fact that the Muninn has perfect resistances for shield tank, and terrible resistances for armor tanking, 3 medslots is kind of a pathetic shield tank for an assault cruiser.
What would you put on there? LSB2, boost amp, and invuln 2? --------------------- Originally by: Herko Kerghans Nik = win. Period.

use a kinetic hardener instead of an invuln 2, that's it's biggest hole, and kinetic is used by a lot of people. also, it uses less cpu and cap to run. cap is precious on minnie ships.

Pretty much any ship can shield tank decently if itĘs got lots of mid slots active tank if itĘs got lots of low slots passive tank.
I fly Gallente ships only and nearly always shield tank without a problem.

With the right skills, you can run a passive shield tank on virtually anything, even Amarr ships (though the Apoc and Geddon don't work so well for it). |
