there's just no venue for BS fights in FW space. if there were something FW-related that necessitated use of carriers (repping ihubs?) it's likely everyone would make an effort to have at least one fitted BS ready to go, as it is a lot of people don't even bother having them in hangar because that's space in a freighter better used for ships that will actually see the outside of a station.
There's nothin' like skating away from a fight with the hull on fire, some mods burned out and a cargohold full of loot.
See my terribad blog for stories.

Carriers still happen in the warzone, even though, a neut legion might be a better idea than geddons or abbadons due to the fact fighters and dreads have a much easier time dealing with battleships than t3s and those t1 resists are going to be very hard to deal with for your logi. 5 neut legions might not have the neuting power of 5 geddons, but 5 dead geddons doesn't have very much neuting power at all.
Tl;DR; battleships have their place, but I think it says more about the state of battleships rather than FW that they aren't used too often in FW (after all they fit in large plexes, ofc so do carriers). |

my list is 100% accurate of the minmatar amarr warzone. and to an extent your as well.
Fought a faction web and prop Worm last night with two Comets. Both Comets were in structure. It was a great fight.
IMO, regardless of what size ship you are flying, if you can engage someone that should, in most cases, kill you and if you still manage to come out on top with your foot on their neck, that is the pvp people enjoy best. Since the rebalance it has been more than possible to achieve this level of satisfaction with smaller sized hulls, as opposed to EVERYTHING but t2 until BS t1 class sucking. That means less ISK spent on dying, which means more ISK available for reshipping, which leads to more content and a happy EVE.
I still disagree with you, and am, myself, happy as a madman on a rampage.

Unless something has drastically changed in the last couple years, anything slow/shiny is just too good a target for hotdroppers to be worth flying. No sense padding some other dude's killboard with a big slow boat that doesn't necessarily do more damage than a smaller hull, and doesn't have a large enough delta in tankability. |

Yes, the Jump Fatigue changes mean hotdrops have become increasingly rare. In my time in FW, I have only seen one hotdrop: a rapier and bombers hotdropping on 2 frigates... |

Here is the deal. If you want to get good at PvP and have the choice between FW and RvB go FW and here is why: RvB has set matches leading to unrealistic perceptions of what Eve PvP is like. In a real PvP situation you should always expect the unexpected. More times than not RvB does not offer that whereas FW does. So you decide to go the RvB route for a year and think you're pro move out to 0.0 and then get owned in every small scale PvP encounter.
Aside from 0.0 NPC living PvP, FW is pretty good for being able to undock and PvP. |

If you want blingfleet / capfleet / blobfleet then join the nullbears, wait for your Jabber ping, and sit on the titan before you get blueballed again.

There's something for everybody in low sec.
FW Novice: Frigs FW Small: Dessies FW Medium: Cruisers FW Large: Opportunity for larger hulls, but really just opens the door to everybody. POCOs: T2 cruisers/BS Small POS: A couple dreads to reinforce, or T2/T3 Cruisers, with opportunity for larger stuff Medium POS: A few Dreads to reinforce, opportunity for escalation Large POS: Lots of dreads, etc.... Anomalies: Shiny kitey max boosted Russians. :)
I also think people are confusing 200 million isk BS hull (today) with an essentially free BS - for example a 42 million isk Dominix with near 100% insurance reimbursement.(yesterday). Also Today: 100 million isk/hour running FW missions. Yesterday 200-300 million isk/hour running FW missions. |

Wrong. NPC dwelinning entities get PvP on demand as well. I am talking non-sov 0.0 entities here. |

That makes me optimistic about revisiting EVE a couple years later. When I was last playing everything was about batphone bullshit, which for me reduced the game to roulette, but with a long-ass spin time and worse payouts. |

Pros: There's always a fight to be had sometimes less than a jump away. Always something to do. Cons: someone is always crying about something!!
Its your Isk, its your ship, fit it anyway you want, blinged out or T1 Derp fit.
Nothing ventured, Nothing Gained!!

erg cz wrote:Biggest con I see for such experienced player is that you will be limited to cheap ships. If you stay solo, you will mostly fly in frigates or destroyers. Most ppl in FW do so for simple reason - it is no fun to see your billion worth ship taered apart by gang of 4 frigates, each worth 10 milions max. So most ships you will see in solo fights will be cruisers and smaller.
That's only a con depending on your skill points and wealth. Faction warfare is great because even new players can get in on it and have reasonable expectations of not coming across a ship so out of their class they have no hope of winning. |
