Okay. I found something...
My trader has +8 Caldari for broker fees in Jita.
-4.7 Gallente.
I would like to get Gallente up to 0 (Unadjusted)....
WITHOUT hurting Caldari.
(I realize that... for SPEED, just doing the highest Gallente mission would be best, but I want to conserve my Caldari standing)
Anyhow... I just am finishing the SOE arc.
Will probably get me to -3.5 Gal. Fine.
And since it's an Epic arc, no derived standings.
I still got another 3.5 to go.
I have three choices:
(Let's leave the Gallente Epic arc out of this.)
1) Run Gallente distribution missions or do tutorial missions or DataCenters. Basically, Get Derived Gallente Standings. +10 to Gallente when I do it, but -5 to Caldari. Ouch.
2) Run Minmatar Missions. (And do their tutorials and Datacenters). +8 to Gallente, am I right? So I would get a little less "boost" to Gallente, but, my Caldari would drop less too, since Min - > Caldari is -2.
3) The Ghost in the machine. Just run SOE missions. SOE is +4.8 to Gallente. And a piddly -0.15 to Caldari. (I'm going to count that as Zero).
Thanks for any comments and ideas.

do broker fees use Caldari State or Caldari Navy standings? been a while since I cared even a little about that. If it is state then I'd probably go the SoE route, I fixed my standings that way, went from 9.91 to 9.45, although that wasn't quite all the way to neutral with gallente. but with your 8 standings the losses will be a bit less. I just wanted to be above -5 with diplomacy, which since I've been back running EA and storylines I'm going to have to fix that again soon. If brokers fees depend on CN standings then it really doesn't matter what you do.
the only way you can do it without derived losses is via epic arcs. otherwise you just have to mitigate losses.
I'll join the chorus asking CCP, don't take my fancy names away from me!

Thanks for the reply
Fees use BOTH Caldari State and Caldari Navy. I understand that the Navy Standings won't be going anywhere.
And I understand the losses will have to be mitigated. I'm just wondering which route will cause them to lower the LEAST
In any case, I *JUST* finished the SOE arc and I'm -3.66 Gal now.
I'm going the SOE route. I will report back here and let y'all know what I ended up at.
btw: I've done 1 SOE Storyline. Caldari state dropped but not enough to notice. (8.06 before, 8.06 after, and the storyline shows up in the transaction log)
The other advantage is that my main PVP character will do the "Kill Missions", meaning I get all the + standings, he gets the negative ones.
I should point out one more thing:
Since I could care LESS about my SOE standings, I can, somewhat freely decline missions repeatedly since failing missions do not have a negative derived standing.
If I was grinding Gallente I would have to either do it (And risk a lowsec delivery) or wait. Or go to another agent. |

It's possible to get all factions over zero, even to have e.g. Gallente faction at 7 and Caldari at 4 or so, but it will take a huge amount of time. For an example look at my standings on Eveboard. I think my lowest is Minmatar but they are all above 2 and highest is SoE at 9 point something.
I have several trade characters with high standings, both faction and to the station owner but it is a lot simpler just to have a Caldari / Amarr trader and optionally a Gall / Min one. For someone that is just interested in trading you would be better off just going that route in my opinion. |

Um, just exactly what was the question and are you referring to 'The Plan' ?
Anyway, that doesn't matter much. Now if you want to get max benefits for standing gains then you need to first train up the various 'Social' skills asap..
The first step is to decrease your negative standings without affecting anything else. Diplomacy level 5 will decrease a -10.00 Faction standing to -6.00 Faction standing. That's quite a bit and it doesn't take very long to train.
Next step is to increase your positive standings without affecting anything else so train up Connections level 5. Since you're gonna be grinding missions it's best to also train up Social level 5 as well. That will increase the amount of standing gained for completing missions.
After that's completed you can then see exactly what steps need to be taken to achieve your standing goal. As others have stated, it takes time to repair negative standings, especially since it took time to destroy them in the first place.
Due to working 'The Plan', I currently have almost +8.00 standing with the 4 main Factions and all minor Factions are between +3 to +5 standing. The only negative standings I have is with Pirate Factions.

Thanks for the reply Michael!
As I mentioned, I'm trying to rehabilitate my Gallente Standings. (Currently -3.55 after doing the SOE arc)
I have three choices:
1) Just grind Gallente. I would rather not. I'm -3.55 (-1.55 with Diplomacy). The +10 I get when a storyline triggers is offset by the -5 to Caldari, which I want to preserve.
To repeat, I *know* caldari will go down. I want to minimize that. I just want Gallente to 0 (unadjusted)
2) Grind Minmatar. That's +8 to Gallente and only -2 to Caldari. Seems like a better deal. (I lose 2 points on the "Gain" side, but I save 3 on the "loss" side)
3) Grind SOE. That's +4.88 gallente and -0.15 to Gallente. That seems the best, and it's what I'm doing. Altho if someone has done the math and can convince me to grind Minnie, I'll do that instead. I realize that SOE is only a net of 4.73 (4.88-.15).... Wheras grinding minmatar is a net of 6 (8-2), the small loss SOE incurs is hard to resist. (And SOE Lp is pretty good, unlike my Matar LP which would be scattered amongst 15 different corps as I ran and did whatever distribution mission was closest.)
I will do all the kill missions, even against Caldari. But they will be done by my other character.
But again:
Looking to raise Gallente THE fastest and keep Caldari as high as possible.

There is no true easy way to get standings up without hurting anyone.
One option is "The Plan" and I've used this very effectively.
A second option is to buy the standing at data centers and with security tags.
Data Centers
Another option and most probably the longest, is to run missions for Gallente Agents and decline the missions that have you going up against Caldari/Amarr/Minmatar.
Either way, it'll take you time to get to where you want to be, especially since you'll be starting at Lvl 1 Agents when you start working for a new faction.

when you Caldari faction standing is so high, a loss of 1% is a lot more than a gain of 1%. forget about storyline missions and do epic arcs only. |

In addition to what DMC said, after finishing leveling up social skills to 5 the fastest way to reduce the negative standing is doing Data Centers, Check the needed TAGs for every mission buy them all from market and head there and complete these missions. It's gonna hurt your Caldari standing but then you have to work again towards your Caldari standing but in careful way.Don't accept any missions or storyline that requires killing Gallente ships you will notice that you slowly raising your Caldari standing while Gallente is intact.

Your best option is level IV SOE as the SOE storylines bump Gallante substantially with a negligible impact on Caldari. |

Actually the best option is to work 'The Plan'.
It's been proven time and time again by the playerbase to be the quickest and easiest way to repair negative Faction standings as well as increase positive Faction standings.
Nuff said ...............
