It was a quiet 5:30 am on a Saturday morning, after downtime.
I check out our new location in Old Man Star to see what the Senate HQ looks like.
I decide to hit a few belts in my now totally decked out Little Firecrcker (Gallente Navy Comet) and just give her a workout. She is so my favorite ship. I'll cherish her forever. :) Sporting 2 Small Diminishing Power Drains, two named Neutrons, a Eutectic Cap Recharger, Cold-gas Arcjet Thrusters, and a named small armor rep, she's the baddest thing with engines this side of the Myridian Strip.
So I hit some belts. Starting from the middle (to avoid the two potential Firecrcker killers), I hit a belt containing 3 Serpentis Chief Guards. My Comet and her dual-wielding Modal Light Neutron Particle Accelerators make quick work of the rats. Some pretty lame loot, nothing to write home about.
Then, I fight over whether or not I go to bed. I'm semi-chatting with a new recruit in HCU chat, so I decide to stick around until he gets to Ebo. I run my scanner to make sure nobody's in the immediate area seeing a huge prize to blow away. So, I hit the next belt in the list. It's got a Serpentis Wing Leader in it. Alright, a battlecruiser spawn. 175,000 ISK, here I come.
I engage the rat. Wow, he sucks at firing a gun. Quicker than the Chief Guards, I annihilate the Wing Leader. I turn off my afterburner and crawl to the loot. Then, I open the can, and scan the six items in it. Then, to my suprise, I get hit with a wave of ecstasy.
In the can, was my first ever looted Local Hull Conversion Expanded Cargo I.

It love the feeling you get when that happens.
I had like 1 million to my name when I first looted one of those.
I went straight out and bought a battlecruiser, only to have it blown up by a gate camper not 10 minutes later.
To my surprise, only 2-3 days later I looted another one.
Then about a week after that I looted a third.
Strange things happen.

Serpentis are the best rats to shoot atm because of the lack of cargo expander II.
Doesn't have to be a Local, beta and type d are great loot too.
No other normal rat drops named t1 stuff that makes that kind of money.
(I am discounting faction/officer spawns here)

I remember melting 3 of those in a stack cos I was melting at 4.00am in the morning in my younger days.  
Same day my mate melted 3 Dread Guristas shield hardners and his punisher frigate.
How we laughed as we made our way back to empire with a few mins instead of over 100mill of loot each.

the r c office(gatekeeper) in the illegal activity part 3,lvl 3, msn drops them quite alot. in fact, i actually fitted them to my badger 2 not knowing wot they were worth. for a few weeks i was flying around as a newish player with a 700k hauler equipped with 90mil worth of cargo expanders trying to make ends meat. it was only when i got my 4th one and decided to sell it, i realised how rich i really was. the said modules were very hastily removed and sold for some somewhat less expensive versions.
