Okay, so first of im 100% new to schield tanking and have been training random shield skills when I got to the ponit that I wanted to buy a Ferox.
Now im 8 million isk away from it, so I think it may be smart to focus and stop messing around with skills that I train just cuzz I like the name.
So my first question is, what are the ''iteams'' needed to passive tank, as in the modules them selfs, im still trying to learn all the abbreviations (sp?) like bcu, bpo, and so on. So if you give me advise, would you please use full names, or il still be dead locked. :p
Now the Ferox setup in my head is atm:
High: all Heavy Missials (have more missial skills then gunnery)(cheapest named if I have the money) + Small Tractor Beam 1 (got one realy cheap for only 12000 isk) + Something to boost my drones, cuzz I also have more drone skills then gunnery.
Or a small rail/blaster ehh?
Med: Thats where you come in, if you will please give me a good ''passive'' tank setup.
Small: Ballistics Control (cheapest named) Also more help here please.
I have studied the feroz setup threads in the stikky, so much even that I know the order in wich people posted. (well almost)
Thanks in advance.
ps, any one selling a ferox under market price? worth a try not?
pps, yes, I faild english :p

Edited by: Hubbins on 09/09/2006 16:31:57 Med slots: Large Shield Extenders (Extenders) and a shield hardener (hardeners) based on the rats your're fighting
Lows: 1 BCU (Balistic Control Unit) and the rest Shield Power Relays (SPR)
If you have trouble tanking replace the BCU with another Power Relay
Edit for bad spelling

Start simple 1 invul field and the rest of the mid slots with large T2 shield extenders Fit max shield relays
Now start tweaking it to suit your play style IE fit 1 Ballistics Control and a afterburner o what ever else you like. Try the ship out, if caps a problem swap a relay for a PDS. Try the ship again if caps still a problem swap another relay for PDS e.c.t
Try a mission with 1 and 2 invul fields.

if you want to go passive here is the default setup for NPCing.
Mid - 3 large tech2 shield extenders (really spring for the t2 if you can save a little more) Then look at the damage of rats in your area. Say they are mostly Thermal and EM 1 - active thermal hardener. Tech1 named, or t2 if you can afford it. 1 - active EM hardener. Tech1 named, or t2 if you can afford it.
Then for the lows. Start out with 2 - Shield Power Relay. This + the shield extenders is the base of your tank. The other two lows can be filled with any combo of more SPR for more tank, BCU for a little more DPS, or a a DCS for a little more safety. Personally I filled my last 2 slots with a ballistic control unit, and a damage control.
If you look around, people who crunch numbers say passive tanked ferox isn't very good. But it does fine for me on missions, and uses very little cap to keep up (just 40 power every 12 seconds for the two named t1 hardeners).

thnx for all the help guys.
one last stupid question, whats the divrens (sp?) with Shield Rechargers and Shield Power Relays
thay both have about the same stats etc, what I think is that one is works like lets say a cargo expander, and the other like a gun, you need to ''click'' the gun, but not the cargo expander, did I get it right? and if so, witch is witch???
thnx

shield rechargers are mid-slot items that just give you a certain bonus to shield recharge rate. Shield power relays are low slot items that give you a bigger bonus to shield recharge, but also hurt your cap recharge rate. Generally speaking, it's better to use your low slots to decrease your shield recharge time and your mid slots to increase your total shield hp.

Highs 5x launchers(arbies if you have the isk) 2x whatever
Mids 3x Large extenders Tech 2(tech 2 is well worth it) 2x Invul(tech 2 if you're high rolling for 7% more resist)
Lows 2x Shield Power Relay(you don't need cap) 2x BCS Tech2(for dps)

I fly a Ferox atm for lv3 missions (I get screwed over doing lvl 4 when the server crashes, lvl3 are quicker!). I'd suggest:
High: 5x Heavy launchers (for level 3 or lowsec ratting) OR 5x assult alunchers (for level 2 missions or highsec ratting)
Med: 3x Large Shield Extenders 2x Active hardeners for the rats you are fighting OR 1x Passive EM 1x Invul field (All aroudn setup)
Low: 2-4 Shield power Relays 0-2 ballistic Control Unit
When you first start flying the ferox, go ahead and run 4 SPR in the lows, it will make you damned near invulnerable to NPC's. Start swapping them out 1 at a time for BCUs unti lyou find what works for you and your skills. I use a 2/2 or 3/1 mix in favour of the BCUs.
As for your last 2 high slots, it depends on what you want to do really, here are some sugestions:
2x tractors are nice for looting 2x medium nos are nice if you are concerned with being jumped(will help against frigs), 2x small lasers (kill frigs and no ammo)
