idea 1: occasional invasions by npc's into higher security space. Imagine a wave of 50 guristas flying into a .5 or .6 sec system. Have some cool loot drops so people don't jsut hide.
idea 2: NPC wars with a mandatory draft. "You have been drafted into the caldari navy. your enlistment will end after you fight for us x many hours."
idea 3: Amarrian ethnic cleansing. NPC's and players blast all non-amarr players in amarr space every once in a while. (best way I can think of to stir up some SERIOUS tension between the races)
idea 4: lost treasures in 0.0 space here and there. Give people a desire to explore. Maybe the occasional rare person will get VERY rich because of a discovery.
a general gripe- there must be a way to make pvp combat last longer. So far in every fight I've either had the right mods loaded to win, or I didn't. Where is the skill in that? I avoid fights for that reason. Also getting podded without so much as a word spoken gets very old. Pirates gripe about not having anybody to fight- well, that's why I don't fight if I can help it. Nobody likes to be bullied. Can anybody make some suggestions on how to make fights last longer and bring some real skill or talent into the actual fight? I wish I could, but with the ships' controls set up the way they are I can't think of how.

lose the weapons and mods - go bare knuckle :)
10k apart - and then just ram each other into submision ;) , i think this would pass many an hour and provide entertainment whilst miners 'grind' away
just a thought

I like the idea of the npc pirate invasion. Maybe even a concerted invasion encompassing many systems. Just imagine all the corps heading toward the front to battle this new enemy - and stop them before they overrun core areas of space.
The way the npc's acts in this game seems to be part of a general letdown in mmorpg - well in EVE and AC2 at least : AI sucks! How different wouldn't this game be if npc pirates actually travelled, lay siege to stations, hunted players and invaded regions

The invasion is a good idea but there would be no point to it. Maybe there could be some way of implimenting faction chages to systems.
A faction invades a region with the aim to take systems under thier control. That way space never stays the same. -----------------------------

the NO2 shud be changed just a little so its not an obligation for miners or peacefull peoples.
and 3rd is a bad idea where shod all the multirace corporations be at? guess u could make like irl make some kinda payment to enter the space and if u frauded u just went to amarr empire without be one THEN be blasted away.
1st and 4th are GREAT!!!
its true about combat. and as u say the way eve built its move system there aint too much to do atm they shod make a huge patch to really change this.

Would the forums be able to handle the whining afterwards?

Also, number 4 is already in.
There was once a player called megacyte, he used to travel around in a spaceship called The Mighty Arkanor.
He used to hang around the empire systems, but got griefed repeatedly. I remember seeing him a few times out the window of my velator.
After all this griefing, he moved out to the 0.0 systems beyond the boundaries of the empire, only to find that the other players were all still after him, to try and take his ship (rumoured to be made of the highest value minerals).
He then thought of a fiendish plan. He vanished.
Although you still hear the occasional report of somebody spotting him out along the very edge of the known universe.
He's still out there, and his ship (The Mighty Arkanor) has grown to truly epic scales because nobody has been able to grief him lately.... .

I'd like to see rare agent missions where several people get the same mission stating they need to meet at one place at one specific time to face a fleet of NPC, amongst which is an agent of a rivalling faction.
The objective is to kill that agent and make people having to start over with a new agent and be forever more prepared with a broad range of decent agents to counter sudden death.

Hey Drunken. The player called megacyte in his ship called arkanor is just more mining. Ooh, excitement galore. What I meant is maybe some abandoned, burned-out stations and huge shipwrecks. Something along those lines.
and maybe to amend my draft idea- provide with the enlisment a navy frigate and a free clone. Just like the real military provides you with gear. That way less whining, and we get some players that normally never leave empire space to try pvp for a bit.

Some good ideas, but I se soe areas of eve design that are flawed right now that would have a bigger impact.
(1) Fix PvP!! It's to easy to avoid a fight, and to difficult to engage in one. Bring back some piracy too so there's an element of risk again (2) Get the dep space platforms in game BEFORE tech 2. This wold add more interest and scope to what has become a borig game.

Edited by: Keo Morigan on 20/10/2003 17:29:38 I want a HUUGE ship, that can hijack people's ship and send em out in a pod, so I can loot modules/refine ship/take ship to station or just crush it :) Ofcourse, it should have no shields, close to immobile regarding speed and agility, and so on.
So, your team EW this ship (Cruiser/Frigete or smaller) and web, jam and lock it down completely. Then your ship eater close in, and "eats" the victim, and the owner of this huge thingie can choose what to do with ship and pilot.
Only problem would be lack in demand of new cruisers, and people farming ships :D
edit: It was not intended to be serious, but it kind of sounds better and better the more I think about it..
If your not a part of the solution, then you'r probably a part of the problem. |

1. defender drones-drones that attack other drones
2. a skill that lets you refit mods w/o docking at a station
3. some sort of invasion/npc bs fleets to provide those of you in bs's with proper entertainment
4. all the stuff they promised but have yet to deliver

I like your ideas, I agree that space is currently too static, like many other mmorpgs nothing seems to change :(
Also I once posted about the idea for boarding ships, which imo could spice up combat and make wars more lucrative too http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=34959

what about kinda hangar ships to refit in space like at a mining op u just have miners equiped u being attacked u "dock" to the hangar and refit there with a shared hangar with limited space u refit and go to battle?
of course the hangar ship should be piloted by a player.

Actually, I think an enterprising pirate could board a ship, in a way. Just lock somebody down until they are helpless, and demand that they eject or die. You never know, if somebody forgot to buy a good clone before they left the station they might consider it. Then you or a buddy fly a noob ship over there and board it, no sweat.
