Hey all, im a trial player and willing to continue playing this game as i am amazed with the vast knowledge and community it holds. I was just wondering however if it would be possible for me to join a corp as a newbie player. I am mainly looking for the pvp aspect of this game and as a total noob im not sure whether id be useful for any corp, let alone for pvp purposes. I obviously have very low sp (250k) however i am eager to learn a lot more in this game and i think a corp with some mentors especially oriented for pvp purposes could help me greatly. So do i have any chance with joining corps and learning from advanced players? Thanks |

Sure - check out the recruitment forum. Some corps will accept new players and show them the ropes, others want someone with more experience. The fact that you are on a trial account will probably not make a big difference - you will be able to fly a tackle frigate, which is what most people start out flying when they learn PvP.
Try Eve-Uni or RvB, both accept noobs, or take your pick of the offerings on the forum. The main thing is attitude. I have seen even corps that have strict skil point minimums bend the rules and take on newbies if they show the right 'go gettem' attitude and are willing to listen and learn. Join the recruitment channels of the corps you are interested and see what happens. |

Yes. There are many new player friendly corps. Including those of the PvP kind.
Also a good corp will not look at just your SP but also at what you as a player has to bring (so a good attitude will open more doors then just having SP).
Some examples but there are many more:
* Brave Newbies Inc. - Nullsec corp/alliance that is very new player friendly. * RvB (Blue Republic / Red Federation) - EVE's version of consentual PvP. 2 corps always at war with each other under a limited amount of rules and often also team up together against 3rd parties. Though not a real PvP teaching community they are VERY new player friendly. * EVE-Uni - EVE's unofficial official training corp. Been around for ages, has thought many other capsuleers how to survive and thrive in New Eden.
Then other options:
* Agony Unleashed - They run EVE PvP classes with the next BASIC being on 30 Dec. * Redemption Road's Newbro Roam - Free ships are handed out, which are then used on a PvP roam (which starts slower to first do some 'tutorial' stuff) but ends in a load of fun and destruction.

We Don't openly recruit but if you were to find yourself in the circumstances where an offer would be forthcoming, being a trial player would have little effect.
So no but not because you're a trial, that doesn't matter much

In all honesty, my corporation would bar you from direct entry. But.
We would set standings for you allowing you to operate on NPSI (Not Purple Shoot It) protocol within Fleets you can find in your fleet finder. Admission to our corporation requires a subbed account and Teamspeak 3 for PVP however. With us, you do fly for a cause even if there are no CTA's, and confirm to a certain level of corp security. We wish to wish to recruit people who have at least some dedication to the game, and feel a subbed account and comms capacity is a low bar of entry.
That being said, we are everything but "elite" and SP is never an issue, only your mentality. Many people in what we call our "Fleet Pool" ended up being long-term members of the corporation. |

Just be aware that trial players are considered more likely to be spies or otherwise actively harmful recruits by many dilligent recruiters, and also less likely to turn into an asset to a corp (as they still need to decide to stay with the corp, but they also need to subscribe).
For that reason most dilligent recruiters prefer full accounts.
That said, it's not a hard and fast rule.
Can you elaborate on what sort of PVP you are looking for?
- Solo or small group, hunting targets of opportunity you are pretty sure you can beat - Solo or small group, looking for the thrill of close fights - Medium size fleets, preying upon the weak - Medium size fleets, looking for quality opponents - Large and super-large fleet fights where you are a cog in a well oiled machine

Hey again! Thanks a lot for the responses. I have checked a few corps mentioned here and i guess it makes more sense to join a corp designed for newbie players as they are already devoting their resources to noobs like me. I have to agree with couple of points here; yes i am willing to sub to to the game however only if i can find a nice corp to join cause otherwise the game does not seem to offer much. As i have a busy life outside as well i may not devote huge hours into the game so it might be better to join a larger corp where my disappearence from time to time wont matter much. In terms of spying and etc, oh dear hehe i know the game offers a lot but by no means i could be a spy now but that could also be another reason to join a big newbie corp as noone will suspect
In terms of pvp, ive mostly enjoyed small gang even solo pvp in other mmos and it could be a lot of fun here as well. Ganking scamming and piracy also sound fun too on the paper but im not sure how they work out. Anyways thanks a lot for the replies. |

Just because you may not be a spy doesn't mean that an actual spy wouldn't ask exactly the questions you are asking.
If I ever decide to insert a spai into any organisation, you can bet I'll post questions in this forum that I know the answer to.
This sort of depth is what makes EVE great. You always know there's a knife near your back, and you live on the edge. Feels so great when you spot the trap just before it is sprung and ruin it.

Hey Sabriz,
Thanks for the input - I clearly see and agree with your point, however let's not digress from the topic here, as my intention when creating this topic was to ask for some advice, rather than being hired by a corp directly from here.
As I said, it seems a better idea to join a big newbie corp such as the ones mentioned above in-game, and be part of their teaching/mentoring programme (if any), rather than being a burden to the corporation. I am willing to learn about this game, and i want to have fun in doing that, I really do not have the time to wait for ages to get some action. I really don't care if I am for instance used specifically as a bait (as mentioned above) at start, as long as I am playing the game with/learning from friendly players. Thanks |

Pilot Draas, first of all, welcome to Eveonline! I along with the others here highly encourage you to get a subscription and join a newbie friendly corp. that were also reffed to. PvP can happen anywhere at any time and makes for an exciting element through out New Eden. DON"T get discouraged losing ships, start with cheap frigates and then as you gain experience and confidence then work your way up the ladder (so to speak). Best of luck! |

Just a friendly reminder to keep recruiting to a bare minimum or where absolutely necessary (Eve Uni, etc.) to help with new folks.
Other than that, welcome aboard Draas and we hope you enjoy New Eden! Lots of good advice here, take it and learn from it! Just like a Reese's, there's no wrong way to play EVE.

If you've decided one of the big newbie corps is for you, by all means join the one of your choice and learn everything you can from them.
Then make a decision - perhaps you want to stick around and help other rookies, perhaps you want to depart on good terms and seek other opportunities elsewhere, and perhaps you want to burn the place down when you leave and steal everything you can.
The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
