I suffer from no CTD's, no random disconnects, and only a little lag (and considering i'm camping Jita 4-4, i'd be shocked otherwise)

You click "Accept" on this when you signed up to play EVE.

Perhaps they should provide a more accurate statement..
'We do gurantee that operation of the system, or use of the software will be interrupted and filled with numerous errors. CTD's are common, memory leaks are frequent and you play at your own risk to suffering lots of frustration with our product'

CCP has always pulled through and i'm sure they will again. Don't worry, if you have my luck your node will crash and the one that takes over will work perfectly. =P

First online game....nah, I've been around playing online games for a long time. Problems and downtimes, yup other games had/have them too. Can I live with it?....
As long as my hard earned cash is going into there corporate bank account every month I want exactly what they have advertised and boasted about. If they say a single shard server where lag is vitually non existent - then I want to see it, experience it and enjoy it. Now if I'm not recieving what I am paying for (bottom line), then I'm not happy and I want to see something done about it/progress being made.

Edited by: Solbright on 12/09/2006 01:43:44 You better be sure it really is lag that is the problem before getting too*****y about what CCP has claimed and is breaking.
Short lockups is not a lag, and neither is low framerate. Server lag is when a late packet arrival makes the client predict incorrect world behaviour displaying events that never took place. When comparing lag with a setup that freezes for short periods not displaying events for those periods you have a completely different problem happening than lag.
Lag may well be present but I'm reasonably sure it's not the problem that has everyone up in arms at the moment. I'd put this one down to bloatware and sloppy coding causing the client to have fits. Don't get me wrong though, I'm pretty much on an unplayable setup myself - I'm happy if I'm getting more than 1 fps since the lastest 2.13.4561 patch, I just thought I should attempt to steer peoples attention in the right direction.

That could well be the case, and I highly suspect it is. From my point of view its 'lag like' effects that I'm experiencing. Operations that require requests to be made to the server that are taking unreasonable amounts of time to complete. Activation of modules, transference of asset items, market queries and transactions. FPS runs pretty good on my system and average around 50. I run the game always with the sound off. Am I experiencing what CCP advertise...nope. Are others experiencing what I am....yes. Not c o c k y ;)

I would say that the recent disruption goes above and beyond the bounds of interrutions and errors. Lag isn't an error, it is a universally present factor in online games and it should be the duty of a company like CCP to ensure that it does not arise to the point where it denies subscribers the gameplay that they are, in fact, charging very highly for.
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=393189 for the main 'lag issue' thread in this forum.

I've been reading some more threads on the recent issues and discovered the term "stuttering". I consider this to be a good label for the problem I'm refering to.
The degree of stuttering seems to vary, according to claims, greatly with little reguard for hardware or drivers or OS. The one thing that is constant is those that are reporting stuttering, for them, it has been worse with each recent release of the Eve client with a particular jump with the lastest patch.
