hey, I've been looking at the sleipnir for a while now, and can acutaly fly it (gah BC 5 takes AGES!), I was using my phoon and raven for lvl 3/4 missions and was wondering if a properly setup sleipnir would be a better option?
I was looking along the lines of this
Highs 7x 220mm Vulcan Autocannon II 1x Med NOS
Meds 1x 10mn AB II 1x Large Booster II 1x Large Extender II 2x Hardeners II
Lows 1x Nano (realy helps with speed/manoverability) 2x Gyro II 2x PDU
I know this is probably the most stupid setup ever, but I've been trying it out in deadspace and the only real issue I have is cap usage, could do with about 10-20% more :(
ideas?

Lvl 3 mission - Sleipnir will be definitly better than Raven and Typhoon. Lvl 4 missions... they can be tought in Sleipnir unless NPC damage matches its built-in resists. If you can tank them than you will kill rats in Sleipnir at least as fast as in Raven.

i dont fly the ship myself but i can think of a thing to change:
Switch AC to Howi? (dunno what npc you hunt but some like to stay at range) Maybe change the nano for a dam mod or PDU
rest it seems pretty good for a npc setup

My setup is very much the same except I have howis not Auto's. I like the range much more. I don't have to run my AB all the time getting to the range I want, so thats more cap for my shield booster if needed, but in general if I need the shield booster I'm probbaly running to get out of the npcs range aswell so there is less damage hitting me. With the howis I can easly hit BS & cruisers 15-55km. Frigs are hard though particularly the vipers and webbers, if they get to close, under 20km I always have my drones.
Never flown a raven never will, Sleipnir is more fun than the phoon and tempest in my oppion.

If you want to spring for a faction fit/crystals Sleipnir is lvl 4's on easy mode (Tank full room aggro in its sleep). With a tech 2 fit it can still be done but is a lot trickier.
CFW (Certified Forum Warrior) I kill people ingame too. |

dunno if I can afford faction mods (not the realy good ones def!) I'm loving the autos because of their damage over the arty, also leaves me room on my setup to fit other stuff (like the extender) dunno if I could squese 7 720mm IIs on this!

t2 650's for the win. Free up the grid, and improve your tank in the process.

Just to post my 720 set up so you know.
7 720's 1 heavy launcher
1 Names Ab 2 t2 hardners 1 t2 Large booster 1 t2 Large extender
1 Damage control(best named I think) 3 t2 PDU or 1 t2 PDU 1 t2 RCU 2 t2 gyro
Pretty sure thats the set up. Some missions I like to be safe with the extra PDU's When I know the mission well I'll put in the gyro's pretty sure its correct but some times I get it wrong. Anyway only time I warp out is when my drones accidently argo a whole room. Often enough I don't even use the shield booster. I'm sure your and who evers is better but it works for me
Hey I'm happy I did AE in about 2 hours and than the extra room.. kept messing up/forgetting tag/ammo so took an extra hour :p Ohh and I used standard ammo.

I far prefer autocannons to arti for missions.
Mids I fit 2 hardners, a gist L shieldbooster (worth the 100 or so mill you pay for it), web and ab.
I think the gist will solve your cap problems.

Edited by: Hotice on 11/09/2006 18:14:20 I would go for longer range for lvl 4 as always. I use this setup:
7 T2 720mm art. 1 arb. heavy launcher
1 T2 10mn AB 1 Gist B-type large shield booster 3 T2 hardeners
2 T2 gyro 2 T2 pdu 1 named tracking enhancer
4 T2 medium drones
This setup can live through lvl 4 wc mission against angel/blood raider without warp out. Does great damage, 1 volly pop ceptors at 48km. kills angel war general without needing a reload. 220mm is good for pvp but for pve,it uses way too much ammo. Consider for lvl 4 angel extra mission, I use around 2.6k ammo with 720mm artillery. However, with 220mm ac, I use more than 1.7k ammo just through the first stage. Unless you got an ammo truck following you, auto cannon is just not practical.
I have AWU lvl 4 and rest of the fitting skills maxed. So this setup fits pretty easily even with a bit of pg and cpu left. I have enough pg/cpu left for a medium dim. nos to replace the heavy launcer. Just I never had cap problem so I left the heavy launcher on for some extra damage.

With its RoF bonus AC's eat ammo like crazy. So, with that in mind i went for 720's.
To make them work with all ranges i added 2 best Webbers, and in order to have a tank, i added a Gist C-type large booster, with a boost amp, and one Inv. Field II. It does all lvl 4 with Angels.
Only needs some teaking in some missions like Silence the Informant, where you can get a lot of thermal damage before you get into your own optimal range.
It kills anything within range, be it BS's or orbiting spider drones. Tank as is, runs virtually for ever.

I'll admit the ammo use is HUGE but so is the damage, I'm getting 75-150 damage a shot on anything (frigs and or larger ships) and most things smaller than 50k cruisers are one salvo (or atleast pop before I manage to hit F7). only thing that I have issues with is the tank realy.

Hi,
in my opinion sleipnir is best minmatar ship for angel missions (lvl4).
My (t2) setup:
Highs: 720 II - 7x, arb heavy launcher Meds: L Booster II, Shield boost amp, invul II - 2x, Cap recharge Lows: 3x Gyro II, 2x Pdu (need 1 TS to fit it).
this ship is angel missions in easy mode, use fusion ammo or even better.. QUaAKE!!
Anyways i prefer 720s cos altho damage is lower as ac, u dont have to move alot. Just move to a far group to get in range while your finishing the prefious group. this speeds up missioning time alot in my opinion.

I have to say, some of these setups are realy good, but most seem to be angled towards VS angels. as I'm up in Placid atm, I'm VS Serp, would artillery still be the way to go?

It's a bit harder to tank since you dont have the best kin / therm natural resists.
They key probably isnt the guns but finding the ammo that does the most kin/therm dmg since serps are weak against that.
DU/ Phased plasma or titanium sabot should work.

I've been using Phased Plasma (thank god I had the BPO, would have cost me a small fortune in ammo otherwise), I thought serp where kin THEN therm, is it better to do more thermal than kinetic?
