Hello Comrades,
I currently thinking of upgrading my pc but not sure what option is best. I have an Nforce 4 Ultra motherboard (socket 939) does the new AMD dual core work with this motherboard? Do I have to get a new one any ideas on what my best option is. If I have to upgrade my motherboard thats a pain because I'd change to DD2 memory or something. Does it make that much of a difference to gaming etc?

If you already have an nF4 motherboard, the only reason to go AM2 would be for the upgrade path. AMD processors right up to FX-60 were first released for S939 and are still around, many with excellent price cuts since Conroe(Intel) was released.
If you have anything >XP3500+ I wouldn't touch the CPU/MB, just spring for ram to 2gb (a 2x1gb DDR dual channel kit is not too expensive) and a decent GPU, maybe 7600GT/X1800. Beyond that it's pretty much icing, the price/performance curve starts going exponential the further you try to push it.
That said, I've just gone for about $2000 worth of gear (AM2 4600+, 4gbOCZ DDR2, 7900GT, 1.2TB HDD space :), nForce590 MB [ASUS]), but this comp will last me a few years at least (it better, I can't afford this much every six months). Whatever floats you boat really. ----------

That is not the model or make of your motherboard, it is just the chipset on it. In which does not give the information needed to determine if your motherboard can actualy handle a dual core processor. Open your case and read the writing on your motherboard... It should say something like ASUS or ABIT in huge letters somewhere, along with some smaller writing that would dictate the exact model. Or the next time you reboot pay quick attention (or hit your pause key) to the bios loading screen (where it says your ram and ide/sata drives right at the begining of turning your computer on) and it should tell you the make and model of the board there.

another gig of ram and AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+, thou tbh I really would save your money and upgrade to a Intel duo later.
