Hiya,
I have a question, and it might sound somewhat confusing GÇô I had a hard time formulating it myself.
Imagine the following scenerio in which I am using jump clones, all +4 implants and I remapped my attributes on attribute A and B exclusively. Now I am going to level a skill that is *not* of the same attribute as A and B. Instead it has attribute C as primary and D as secondary. Here's the question: would I win time by levelling that skill when I am using the implants, not because I have more attributes overall but because of the primary / secondary skill multiplier, meaning that without the implants it would be wiser to train the skills which are most affected by my attributes?
I guess that I could answer my own question if I knew how primary and secondary attributes affect skills. |

SP per-minute is Primary Attribute + half Secondary Attribute. |

Implants of course affect the attribute and thus the learning time. Naturally you will learn skills quicker with the relevant attribute maxed, be it by remap and/or Implant, but limiting oneself only to skills that one is currently remapped is not always practical especially when still new to the game.
The most efficient way to learn skills is to use EveMon or some other skill planner, make a plan of all the skills you want to learn in a year, then let the skill planner calculate which remap is the best for that. Implants are just the icing on the cake and EveMon also allows you to take them into consideration for your skill plan as well. Generally, if you are mostly in Hi-Sec or know how to warp off your Pod in Lo-Sec, a +4 Set should be perfectly safe to use, perhaps even a +5 Implant Set, but as aways, don-¦t put into your head what you are not ready to lose.

Thanks for the replies. I still don't get it entirely, but it appears that what I assumed is correct GÇô and that is enough.
In regard to the other topic... I have been reading it, but I simply don't understand it: incompetent at math and still figuring the game mechanics.
Don't assume the worse right away about me; you just might hurt my feelings. |

It is simple
Each skill has 2 attributes it uses.
If you go to your character sheet, you can see how your attributes are distributed.
Pick the primary and secondary attribute there, those 2 are used for that skill. None of the others matter.
So if a skill is a Perception & Willpower skill, it will use those attributes.
Say you have them both at 20..then your SP gain each minutes for that skill would be 30 ( 20 + 0.5 * 20 )
These attributes can be enhanced by implants. A +4 implant just adds 4 to that attribute.
So say, same example as above, but now with both Per & Will having a +4 implant:
SP gain will be:
SP / minute = (20+4) + 0.5 * (20+4) = 24 + 0.5 * 24 = 24 + 12 = 36 SP...
20 + 4 = 20 base attribute + 4 implant bonus.

This has been said already but I will try to simplify it. You train any skill in game at a rate of the number of skill points that you currently have in the primary attribute for that skill and half the number of skill points for the secondary attribute added together per minute.
You have already been given the example of 20 for both and all of the primary plus half the secondary equaling 30. If you use implants it's the same full for primary and half for secondary. So 2 plus 4 implants will get you 6 skill points per minute faster.
If you do not know primary and secondary every skill has a primary and secondary attribute which you can find by looking at info for the skill.
If you do not know what your current attribute points are then look at your character info. The current maximum skill points per hour is 2700 or 45 per minute. |

60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day = 1440?
Mr. Butter, regarding your question, attributes affect how many skillpoints you get per minute. It doesn't matter how you raise your attributes (whether by remapping or by adding implants on top or by using the cerebral booster), the only thing that matters is: you have a skill, it has two attributes, what are the values of those attributes as listed in your character sheet?
So when you train an A/B skill you use the A and B attributes, and when you train a C/D skill you use the C and D attributes, as listed on your character sheet right now under the Attributes tab. |

TBH I remapped once to mainly perception with a bit of int and everything else minimal years ago and it still comes up as the "optimal" remap for me in EVEMON.
Unless you are: - building a very specific character (like a trade alt) - or plan to train all skills with one attribute type then remap and train another type
most new players who just train randomnly whatever skills they need will benefit most from a perception/int remap.

Damn. Youre right. Im so used to the Sec to Hour 3600 factor that I didnt even think about this one.

In other words a perfect remap of
Primary 32 = (27+5) and Secondary 26 = (21+5)
With +5 implants would be 2700 sp/hour.
If your skill swaps the attributes (will 32 / per 26 to per 26 / will 32) you'd get 2520 per hour and so forth.
It's not a rocket science but frankly it's far easier to keep track of those SP with EvEmon then a notebook. |
