I'm tempted to give you the "easy" answer you're after and then watch the forums for your post complaining about how your ship got killed in an L4 mission.
You need to understand there's no perfect "works for every mission" list for setting up resists.
What you need to do is look at the information / guides on the internet for the mission you're interested, then work out how you think your resists should be setup, based on the actual NPCs you'll encounter.
Assuming something simple like they're Serpentis, they'll do kinetic and thermal in equal amounts doesn't always work in L4's.
...what if they have sentry guns?
...what if they have cruise missile batteries?

And your target for those "rat specific" tanks are to get your Resistance's as high as possible in the 2 damage types they do.
So if they dish out Kinetic and thermal damage, you want to get your Kin/Therm resistance's as high as possible. So say 85% or higher. The higher you get, the less damage each hit does to you.
How many of each you need depends on your skills, the modules you fit and how you like your ship to be setup.
2/2 is the normal thing, throwing in the occational DCU and so on.
Some folks I know go 3/2 or 2/3 depending on their skills.

If the rats only do 2 types of damage I use 2/1 hardners, where 2 primary damage, 1 secondary. If they do 3 or more, than i go 3 invs T2. Check eveinfo (http://eveinfo.com/missions/4/) for information on the missions. It will list all the damage types the rats will do, and even list if there are sentry towers and what damage types, how much they do. Get used to go to eveinfo and check the mission before starting it, it will save you lots of grief..... Also, if you are still having issues, feel free to mail me ingame or convo me.

I go with a 3 hardener setup on my raven...2 rat specific ie for guristas I use one T2 thermal, one T2 Kinetic. The third hardener is a T2 invulneralbilty.

A solid tank no doubt, but I've always found that invulns are really only useful for me when I'm encountering all damage types. Whenever you are only getting 2 putting a second hardener for the primary damage type will be a lot more beneficial, i.e. guristas = 2 kin 1 therm.
But to each his own. Krav =====
