Edited by: Tribiak Malvbrin on 13/09/2006 00:16:32 According to the missile guide section of the player guide here http://www.eve-online.com/guide/en/g27.asp
You multiply the max velocity (m/sec) by the max flight time of the missile to find your optimal range. Light missiles are 18,750m without boni (what is boni?). So my Caracal says in it's info "10% bonus to Missile Velocity per level."
Okay, per level of what exactly?
When I look at the info for my Bloodclaw missiles it says the max velocity is 3,750m and max flight time is 5 seconds. This means the range of the missile is indeed 18,750m as stated above in the guide. So where is the 10% increase in velocity that would in turn give me a longer range from my Caracal? Is it really there but doesn't show up in the missile "show info"? I guess I'm a little lost on this part even with the guide.
To sum up, what is 'boni'? And it is 10% increase in max velocity per level of what for the Caracal? Why isn't it showing that increase in the missile info? Thanks |

Its a bonus per level of Caldari Cruiser rank. Caldari Cruiser rank 2, minmimum to fly the ship, is a 20 % bonus. Caldari Cruiser 4, needed as a prereq to battleships, is 40 %.
Also, there are two ways to factor this info. Do the math manually, or look at the missle, loaded into you weapon, in the Fitting window in a station. Seen in space the missles only gives base stats. In the fitting window, loaded and thus 'active' in the ship, it will compute the bonuses and all you have to work out is flight time x velocity.

Awesome, thanks so much. That was the problem, I was trying to figure out my orbit range by looking in space...fitting section it is!

Also be mindful that certain missiles can take a finite period of time to reach maximum velocity once fired. So you will never get a perfect Flight-time X Velocity range. ___________________

In space:
Right click your ship and click Show Info. Go to Modules tab and scroll down to the ammo section. Show info the missile ammo.
General case maximum range = Flight time x Velocity x 0.93
If the target is just roaming around mindlessly and not actively evading you, this is your maximum range.

Originally by: Tribiak Malvbrin You multiply the max velocity (m/sec) by the max flight time of the missile to find your optimal range.
note that it is NOT your optimal range, it is your MAXIMAL range
there are also some missile skills that give boni to max. flight time (missile bombardment) and to max. velocity (missile projection)- again, percentage is per lvl of skill
there are more of those missile skills that have impact on all missiles - when you are a missile fighter (and in a caracal you are ), don't forget to train them too _______

I thought it was 3750x(1+0.1)=4125m/s for caldari cruiser 1 Then it would be 4125m/s x(1+0.1) for caldari cruiser 2 and so on. So am I right or should I do the emote?

All skills except a very very few just do 1 + (Level * Bonus) rather than the (1 + Bonus)^Level that you are thinking. Multiple stacked modules (as well as your ENTIRE skill bonus against any modules) will multiply in rather than add, but there's usually a penalty associated there too if you have multiple modules affecting the same stat, so it won't be quite as effective as the formula would indicate.
So yeah, I guess you can at will now.

The Caracal is a deadly ship thanks to the boni (bonuses) it gets to Knetic missiles damages and flight time. At Cruiser Level 5 it can dish out damage like its no one business. ------------------------------------- Sammael's Legion ARCH |
