I am not 100% sure, but I will take a look as soon as I am back in the office on the 2nd of January. Hopefully I will be able to update Singularity to Proteus then.

Has anyone noticed that Proteus comes only 5 weeks after Rhea instead of 6? And the next release (Tiamat) is only 5 weeks thereafter.

Are we splitting hair now?
We were promised 10 releases per year, nothing more and nothing less. Nowhere were we told that is would be six weeks in between them.

10 release over 52 weeks a year = 5.2
Means more 5 week releases than 6.

Confirming we never said 6 weeks, rather we said "from 2 expansions to 10 releases". At regular intervals it will be 5 weeks between releases and 7 weeks in the summer. The feature takes maybe even longer to develop, because of reduced staff. The frequency of release actually has no impact on development throughput now, they have decoupled development from release.
Every release they just stuff in everything that is ready. That thing could have been worked on for 2 days, 2 sprints, or 2 years. That is irrelevant.
The only impact of five weeks vs 6 is the amount of time a feature has to potentially sit "done" before released.

I'd really hope that isn't the case, if so I hope it gets tested decently at-least.
Just shoving "ready" things in a box for delivery sounds like bad practice. That said, CCP probably knows what they're doing.
Just hope to peek on releases more often on SiSi. |

Test is part of the development process.
The change is before their scope was required to fit within the 6 month cycle (often far smaller then that) because the cycle was rigid. Now that development is decoupled, it doesn't matter. Testing is part of being "ready".

Well, I think (don't quote me of course) he is implying that the physical size of you devs is getting smaller, not fewer devs. I imagine Guard is using a shrink ray on yall so he can be the tallest in the office

Height, of course. Then Guard can be the giant and get his revenge for the short jokes.

Fine, fine, we clearly said and clearly the math doesn't work out since 52/10 is 5.2 (and not 6).

Betrays the issue right there. Language is messy enough as it is, and approximate statements are taken as gospel truth here. What's more, these approximate statements are given by dozens of different sources. CCP isn't a monolith, but rather a company whose employees are united by pay and purpose, many of whom play the very same game and love it fiercely. Mild inaccuracies caused by one person's comments varying from another's shouldn't really be a reason to pillory someone.

Man, you should get out there and play some other games sometime. The fact that CCP Explorer would come back and with evidence, admit that he was wrong, is far more than would happen in most other games, let alone either the complete forum thread vanishing and/or your forum account enjoying a comfortable ban.
CCP may not always have a good memory, but at least they're pretty darn decent about communication, and not making uncomfortable threads vanish. But really, if your continual need for online dignity is so great, that you would like to derail developer time from potentially useful tasks, there's this great online community to help you find likeminded folks. I believe it's called Tumblr.
Not a CCP fanboy, just calling out a BS post. |
