Ok, now before anyone goes gungho about "check your firewall", "check your router", or anything like that I promise you it is not an internet related issue in the least. No chance, not even a little bit. Having said that all day today september 13th I have not been able to log on Eve as the log on screen keeps saying the server status in unknown and is acting like the server is down/I am not connected to the internet. Now I have checked the forums and eve-offline.net and it seems like the server is online. Wondering if anyone else is having this problem, if it is just me, and/or if there is a possible solution other than downloading the client(which I am doing).

Sounds like a routing issue at your ISP. Get the Tranqulity IP and do a tracert (start > run > type "cmd" > hit enter and a dos promt box will open. Type "tracert <TQ ip>" and hit enter. It will then ping each hop three times on the way to the TQ server. Chances are, your ISP is having an issue with a DNS server, and so they can't 'find' TQ. Best thing to do would be to call them and ask if they're having routing dificulties. _________________________ Corp: www.ravenwarriors.com Cache Clearer |

If you can't connect, might be worth having a look at the internet traffic report site. Tells you if any major routers are down, if you're ISP routes through one of them, TQ might be displayed as down for you. - Corp: www.ravenwarriors.com Cache Clearer

While yes comcast sux, there are no nodes down in my area. that is its self is amazing. My connection is fine with everything else. no prob with a trace, CS:S works, BF2 works, Planetside Works, Project Entropia works, SWG works, WoW works, DAoC works. Strange.

You don't seem to understand. It doesn't matter if it's in your area. If your ISP is routing through a router that's down, and on the way to TQ, it'll apear as down. If however, your ISP is trying to connect to a different server, say in another part of another country, and it doesn't need to route through the down'd router, it won't apear as down. I'm guessing as there's above 20k people on TQ right now, it's an issue with your ISP or routing. Doesn't matter if you can connect to WOW, CS, BF2... They have servers all over the world, and in different places. It is odd that you can get a trace to TQ though, are you sure you're tracert'ing TQ's IP?
Only thing I can think of beyond phoning your ISP is completly deleting your cache folder. -

If you check the other posts in this area you'll find that this isn't anything new right now. Several people have large parts of the day where they can't log into the game. I'm one of them. For now, CCP is trying to figure out why it's my system/network's fault, and I'm hoping in about a month they'll start checking their side of things out.
Sorry for the bitterness, but I dislike having invested significant time in a game to be told the developer's problem is on my end when I've gone to extensive lengths to prove that it's not.
What you'll find about the connection status is that it's much better directly after downtime for about 3-4 hours. Then it starts with the disconnects and eventually you can't log in at all or it's extremely unplayable if you can.
Here's hoping CCP starts working on this one before the player base shrinks significantly. -----~!~-----

Maybe if you start posting whereabouts you live, we can see if it's to do with a specific area. IE, if you both live in Western America, then there is most probably a routing issue somewhere between you and the TQ cluster - something which CCP cannot fix. -

It's not a routing issue anywhere outside of Iceland. If it were, it wouldn't cycle based on the server downtimes. Just after downtime, things are good. It grows steadily worse through the day until it becomes unplayable and then impossible to log into, but I can still trace to the servers with PingPlotter. The issue is elsewhere and has been the same for about 10 days now. If there were a major problem at a routing station somewhere on the net, it wouldn't have been left alone for that long.
So again, it's somewhere on CCP's end. I wish it weren't and I could just do something to fix it on my end, because I'd have done it and I'd be playing again, but that's just not the case. We get to wait until CCP takes action and lets us know things are getting better. -----~!~-----

Edited by: oingo on 15/09/2006 04:40:04 I am also having this problem. I have 3 computers hooked up to one router. Two of the computers work just fine. But my third computer will not run eve. All I get is unknown. I have turned off all fire walls and still...unkown. This started after the last patch and was not a problem for me before that. I have deleted the eve program and reinstalled it and still unknown. Any ideas would be very helpful!

How are you Taelus, long time buddy. I'm having the same problem here. So now you'll have to shoot somebody else and wait untill I get back on. CCP is always too fast sending their automated messages telling us the problem is always client based. Anyway, let's hope the problem gets resolved fast so i can get back to my dayly work of moving spacedust.

so many folks including myself are having these problems and i dont forsee someting being done...since this post was made on Sept 13th and i am having the same problem many days later on Oct 5th. All i hear is that its a routing issue even though i just read 3 other posts about a guy having THREE comp running it and two connect and one has the server unknown issue im having! to me that nullifies the same "routing issue" comment im keep hearing OVER and over on the many post about this same issue!!!

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the game...just started playing last night. Had alot of fun going through the tutatorial. Decided 2:30 was getting kinda late so I called it a night. Woke up early so I could finish the Tutatorial and I was Stopped dead in my tracks with Connection Failed over and over again. Did everything I could find in the forums to do so I just kept trying over and over and wouldnt you know I got connected finally! not sure why it wouldnt let me connect.

for somew reason...powering down and swapping in a new hard drive..installing the game...made it to where i can login now...im just wondering for how long since i did nothing out of the ordinary nor did change any settings in between my last play session and the play session where i tried to log on and it gave me the status unknow not able to log in bug. we'll just see if how many times i will be able to log in before i get the dreaded status unknown not being able to log in bug!
