I am part way through a COSMOS sequence for an agent, having completed part 1 out of 3. Now part 2 is telling me I need archaeology skills, which i don't currently have. I can train up for it, but seeing as my survey level is very low it's gonna take a while to get trained up.
If I decline this mission, will I be able to come back and do it once I have the skills, or will the agent stop talking to me?

Nope; you've blown it.
If you particularly care about doing all the missions, you can try to buy the required item, since you don't have time to train Archaeology and go find it. You have a maximum of two weeks to do the training; you can wait (almost) seven days before accepting the mission, and you then have another seven days to complete the thing. Or, you can just decline the mission, forget that agent, go work for someone else. *Declining* the mission will not harm your standings. Failing it, or letting the offer time-out, will do so. ________________________________________________

Thanks. Here's hoping Survey lvl 5 doesn't take too long... Is it just a case of needing the archaeology skill to open certain containers, or do you need a module of some kind as well?

You need the skill to use the module to open the special containers.

Edited by: Tactical Officer on 15/09/2006 18:36:37 and you can often just buy the mission thingy you are looking for. There are usually alot of cosmos mission items in escrow and sometimes even just in the market.
edited for lack of reasonable sentence structure

Archaeology and hacking missions are repeatable. Just talk to the agent again. --*=*=*--

There are some repeatable hacking/archealogy missions, though these will not be storylines (and in my experience in Ani, low level agents).
There are some storyline missions that require an item from an analyzed/codebreaked (erm codebroken?) container. These missions can not be repeated in the event of completion/failure/apathy.

I think we'll stick to "hacked."

As a general rule, this is wrong. Only a few are repeatable.

My advice is to look for the item you need on escrow or market. If that doesn't work, ask around in local. People in the COSMOS systems are often willing to help each other out.
