Hey guys,
This is something that I've been using for my own personal calculations, but I thought I'd offer the link to anyone that is interested.
I started making this when EVEGeek stopped updating their index. This is simply a weighted average of the combined mineral exports for Molden Heath, Heimatar, and Metropolis. I've been gathering data since August 3rd and I try to run the exports on a daily basis unless real-life gets in the way.
It's very simple (I'm a database guy, not a HTML guy ) and works both in-game and out: www.starvingpoet.net/minerals.php
If the exact link ever changes, I'll provide updates @ www.starvingpoet.net _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT |

Why not include The Citadel, as it has Jita, or Essence, as it hosts Oursulaert? 2 big tradehubs, don't think they should be excluded. Then again, I have no idea why you have selected Heimatar and Molden Heath. Any special reasons for those regions?

Erm because he's Minmatar?
to the OP, can I make a couple of suggestions? How about allowing registered users the ability to post market data to the site and then show averages by region?

A better way to calculate this would be with EVE's Market History tab.
Unfortunately that can't be automated. IMO the best indicator of mineral prices on the market should be the price at which the minerals actually change hands, not what people want to get for their minerals and what people want to sell their minerals for. In Heimatar, the current 20 day moving average is approximately 2.08 ISK per unit, about .2 ISK per unit higher than your calculated value. The 5 day moving average is somewhat lower than the 20 day, but it's still above 2 ISK per unit ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Calista Industries |

Yes, because I live in Matari space and I don't ever go out to Jita or Ourselart to buy / sell minerals. It's simply not worth my time to go out there and, thus, for my calculations (as I said this is simply the data I use for other calcs - see the public production calculator at www.starvingpoet.net for an example) that data is useless to me and my corporation.

This is well beyond my HTML / php abilities!

This is a good idea and would require some tweaking of queries, and a whole new storage schema for this specific table, but I will look into this. I settled on the weighted average between the two simply because it was the easiest way to do it.

As of last night (2006.08.19) I changed the storage algorithm to only track moving minerals, thanks for the suggestion, it had never been a problem before but publishing the link resulted in an attemped mass market crash of the indices. Thanks for the traffic though! Over the next week you should begin to see prices stabilize. I've decided to keep the old data for 2 months and will slowly remove it as newer, more accurate, data is acquired. _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT & [QTC] Industries |

As I said, give it a week or two for the new numbers to propogate, but I can get good quantities at those prices without too much of a problem. Numbers will more clearly reflect the new data that you can see on the 1-day ( as the new algorithms are only a day old ) _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT & [QTC] Industries |

Alright guys and gals, I decided to add a new feature to the mineral index:
Now tracking Ice products as traded on the market. I limited it to Matari-Space specific Ice products and ore so we have glacial mass, glare crust and hydrogen isotopes in addition to the standard heavy water, liquid ozone, and stront numbers. I was thinking about adding other isotopes, but those really don't move in the matari markets.
I also realize that most ice moves off-the market, but given time, this will serve as a little reference.
* As before, prices are calculated "simply" on the volume and price of minerals that shift hands on the market. So these index prices are the weighted average of the moving price. _______________ Pwett CEO and Founder [QTC]QUANT & [QTC] Industries |
