I am using a gila in angel area of space, should I ignore the bonus dmg from gallente cruisers and use nova's or use scourges for the kinetic secondary hole with the bonus damage from the skills? |

I'm pretty sure kinetic is better, but you can always try it out. a 10% bonus to damage is pretty big. of course you can always make a spreadsheet, or otherwise "do the math"

If those numbers are true you should be seeing more effectiveness with explosive missiles. Try out both though to make sure.

It depends on the specific ship you are shooting at.
Most battleships fx have so low overall resists your damage bonus wins.
Some elite cruisers have so much resist the specific damage type wins. |

the percentages on the left show damage DEALT, not their resists.

This database shows the individual resists of almost every NPC in game, you can see this particular angel ship has 74% explosive resist and 78% kinetic resist.
If you do the math:
Your shot does 100 base explosive damage, against 74% resist your applied damage is 26
Your shot does 100 base kinetic damage, against 78% resist your applied damage is 22
However Gila has a 50% bonus to kinetic missile damage, 22*1.5 = 33
Therefore we can quite clearly see that kinetic missiles in a Gila will do far more damage than unbonused explosive missiles. |

Yup, since they're not resistant (but actually weak) to kinetic the ship bonus outweighs the downsides. Only if you'd fight stuff like Sansha and you'd also fly a ship that doesn't get a thermal bonus then you'd swap from kinetic to EM. Simply put; Kinetic is pretty much a decent or good damage type to use for most things PVE, especially if it's bonused. |

From personal experience, ship bonusses at level 4 usually outweigh NPC damage weaknesses as long as they are not resistant. At level V it feels quite noticable, I'd rather kill Angels in a Drake with Kinetic missiles, then use Explosive missiles. |

The Gila has a 10% per level Gallente Cruiser bonus to kinetic & thermal missiles, so potentially 50%.
The difference between explosive and kinetic resists on Angel ships is about 10%. That's one level of bonus you lose with kinetic.
You lose the entire bonus if you use explosive.
TLDR; Use kinetic. |

And minmatar drones, since they are the Gila's primary source of damage, and minmatar drones are the best against angel cartel rats.
