I have been tempted to fit 2 x energy neutralisers on my Ferox for PvP but I can't work out why they would be useful over nosferato?
If I fit say energy neutraliser 1 it neutralises 150 of my targets cap whilst also using 150 of my own cap every 12 seconds. Tech II is not that much better. This is a double edged sword? Really it just beocmes a match of who runs out of cap first and that means targeting anything bigger than your own cap whilst using this module is useless.
What have I missed?

If you have more cap than them to start with (bigger ship, or better cap on similar class ship).
Also, skills reduce costs, and some ships get bonuses.
Neuts are circumstancial, and very very good when used right.

Neuts are very useful when attacking ships whose guns use a lot of cap and yours use none. A typhoon with 3 heavy nos and 1 neut will devestate most smaller ships very quickly. No cap, no life.
The hard part about them is knowing when not to activate them because it is pointless and will only drain your own cap. ----------------------------------

A neutralizer is a key part of my best Prophecy PvP setup.
Med Neut + dual MAR + cap injector == fun.

A raven with a heavy neut + heavy nos will totally cripple anything smaller than a bs. Heavy neuts are awesome on HACs and recon ships.

There is no better way to empty your enemys cap and because they drain on activation there is no delay. The cap hit often enough to empty smaller ships. Frigs and haulers will be empty in a instant (great against AFs and ceptors)
If your in a raven it's also a great weapon against HACs and command ships... and one of the only ways to beat the later if flown well.
Don't use them on ships with more cap than yourself or your tank is doomed to fail though I often used them on other BS because I was confident my tank was more cap efficient than theirs.

Dual neut quad nos is evil for obliterating any hope of your target tanking you, ofcourse you probably have no weapons other than drones if you use 6 slots for it.

I have energy emmissions skill maxed out. I get a nice decrease in cap usage. I use Heavy Unstable Energy neuts, and eliminate more cap per cycle than I use on my own ship by a lot.
I use Dual Neuts on my Raven. Especially when I passive tank it. Most players make a set-up to counter 1-2 Nos, and run a tank and fire weapons.
I find that Dual neuts eliminating 1200 cap rules all, and then factor in Drones that do the same
You can pretty much drain a ship dry very quickly, shutting down their tank completely, and in the case of energy weaps and hybrids even their offense.

Edited by: Jim McGregor on 16/09/2006 09:43:52 Minmatar ships set up for passive tanking, combined with energy neutralizers, makes for a very nice tactic. Since they can fight with 0 cap, and most enemies cant, its easy to see the advantages. :)
Also if you use them, you wont have much cap yourself, which means that if a enemy relies on nossing you for the win... he is in for a surprise. :)

When using nos/neut, think it like this: Nosferatus are the Afterburners of cap draining. Can be run almost infinately. Neutralisers are the MicroWarpDrives of cap draining. Activate manually one cycle at the time and be precise.
