Hi! We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Tuesday, January 6th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time).
What exactly is being tested?
- New environment effects for asteroid belts
- General stability and performance of client and server for Proteus
How to connect to Singularity for this test:
Test steps:
- Meet in FD-MLJ, at the gate to X-BV98
- Jump to X-BV98
- Warp to random asteroid belts
- Warp to POS beacon
- Shoot the control tower
- Align to Poitot gate
- Fleet 1: Jump to Poitot and setup gate camp
- Fleet 2: Jump to Poitot + fight at the gate
- Optional: NPCs?
What else should I know?
- We will be moving players to the test system - join the channel massmoveme
- 2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test
- Bring many different ships.

CCP is in the EU TZ, so their work hours will be EU TZ. Crazy, right?
So if you want a US TZ mass test how about you pay their overtime. Hmmmmmmm? Just a thought? |

It's not like CCP has an office in the US at.
250 East Ponce de Leon Avenue Suite 700 Decatur, GA 30030 USA
I guess they don't do anything at that office but twiddle their thumbs and look silly. Fortunately I'm one of the US players that can make the test times but it is very one sided on who they seem to want to participate the most considering they have offices in every major region of the world. |

Please keep in mind that almost all of the EVE development team normally works from about 9 a.m. to about 6 p.m. EVE time, which is currently 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the U.S. Pacific time zone.
A mass test that were scheduled, say, for 5 p.m. in the U.S. Pacific time zone, would be at 1 a.m. Reykjavik time. Unfortunately, that's not very practical for our team to do.

Congratulations you can copy and paste, must be a big day for you. I guess they might sit around and do nothing. I doubt it, but they might. You seem to pretend you know all the inner workings of CCP (That's the only conclusion I can draw from the fact that you're trying to impress me by posting their address), why don't you tell me what they do in that office. Is it really that inconceivable to think that maybe the people who run the mass test don't work in the US office? And I don't know about you, but if I was paying people to do a job and the job was done, I'm not going to pay another group of employees to do the exact same job a few hours later. Literally the only point in doing so would be to indulge the few people who whine that they can't attend.
At the end of the day, if you really want to attend mass tests that much, take the day off work. |

Somewhat more reasonable would be to do them at 5, 6, 7, or 8 PM your time, to catch lunch hour in the four major US times zones. Rotate through the start times as you do mass tests.

You seem to be operating under the impression that CCP wishes for all players to be able to conveniently attend Sisi tests. Allow me to disabuse you of that notion: CCP doesn't care who attends their Sisi tests, only that a certain minimum quantity of players do so. To CCP, when it comes to Sisi tests, we are all fungible (freely interchangeable).
This fungible status may or may not also apply to players on TQ. YMMV.

The test is now over and it was pretty fun.
In the first test, warping to an asteroid with Asteroid Environments and Light Rays enabled, I originally could not see the graphic effects that were being requested. Not until I positioned my camera towards the sun, where I was able to see light rays shine around the asteroids and through the asteroid dust. Compared to the two checkboxes turned off, everything just looked foggy. I run an ATI HD 7970, which my frame rate was sticking at 60 FPS the entire time.
I didn't see any bugs, or any problems. My overview, the icons for fleets and targets, they all worked just fine from my screen. |

Aside from the light rays, did you see a large number of smaller chunks of rock that should have been floating among the asteroids? One of the two checkboxes should control the appearance of those objects.

You might want to read better. I CAN make it to these but I still feel it is one sided and only a small percentage of the server population will ever get to participate. I happen to live less then 20 minutes from that very CCP office and unless World of Darkness (which is originally what that office worked on) gets put back in development I'd assume they are working with Eve and Dust. It's not like CCP does much else at the moment. |

I aligned to it and used my ship as a pointer. Then I could see the rays around the sides of the rock.
From far away, the small chunks look like a star field.

Some EVE-related functions are located in our Atlanta office, but development is located in Iceland, and these mass tests are for the benefit of our QA team located there.
Thanks for attending the test!

No after test survey?
Gotta say the new effects are really nice. I just wish it was around when I still did mining . FPS seemed pretty stable through the whole test. During fighting was getting 18 FPS zoomed in and 30 FPS zoomed out. Pity my GPU waterblock hasn't arrived so I didn't get to test out my new graphics card. http://i.imgur.com/J6UCc1Y.jpg

I can read just fine, thanks. The comment about taking the day off wasn't directed toward you, hence why I separated it from the text that was directed at you. In reality it wasn't directed at anyone as no one is going to take the day off work for something as trivial as attending a mass test. You assume they are working on Eve and Dust? Well yeah it's kinda obvious that they'll be working on one of CCP's active games/projects, that's kinda a no brainer. You do realize people within a company have certain jobs right? People don't just work on a little bit of everything. For example the sound team works on all the sound related stuff, not QA stuff. Not really sure what you living 20 minutes from their office has to do with anything or why it's relevant.
But at the end of the day two Dev's have said why they don't do mass tests in other TZ's. And seeing as you're just basically repeating your previous post, this is where I'll end my input. Good day! |

I turned on the options for asteroid things (forgot exact name) and Light Rays when they were first mentioned.
Then after jumping into the next system and warping to one of the belts, I filed a bug report as it did not really seem different.
After the test I went to some asteroid belts on the way "home", and when getting camera close to one end of a rather large belt screen suddenly filled with pebbles, I can not find a way to view the first screenshot from the bug report and see if the pebbles are actually there and I just missed them or if they were indeed missing and the option "triggered" when visiting this later belt, the amount this later belt had seems like there were not there when I warped in, but no screenshots to test it on.
At no point did I change either of the 2 options after initially enabling them, and I did not restart the client.
You were curious about FPS, I set FPS Monitor to "Gather Data" but couldn't find a way to view it after the test. When panning around during the PoS shoot and fight my FPS was in the 17-50 range. |

When I warped to an asteroid belt, I saw a huge amount of dust and rocks all over the place that my ship flew through. It took me by surprise. I was not expecting to see so many pieces of rock. I tried to click on one of the smaller pieces, which didn't select anything. If I was flying a Venture I would have taken advantage of mining in this asteroid belt.
I posted a short unlisted video (1080p 60FPS) to YouTube, it can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWc0DEivCks&feature=youtu.be
It shows what I saw, and what happened to the asteroids and the lights as I turn the settings off and back on. |

Regarding survey: There was no survey this time as we did not need this kind of data this time (and it would be a waste of time to ask you to fill out a survey, if we are not looking at the responses). We also had a bit less participants compared to other mass tests - but this was completely fine this time.

Tbh it was my first mass test i joined, ever. Quite awesome to see such abundance of supers and other stuff in space. My humble question: If theres list of commands i can write in SiSi channel to for example move my ship to specific system and other usefull things when doing tests on SiSi? I found myself trapped in wh system when someone told me about that MOVEME magic command. Command for teleporting my ship to the nearest "trade hub" with seeded stuff would be nice. Not only on masstest days.
Cheers
