I've been checking out and pricing different graphic cards and I found this one, the system reqiurement say a Nvidia Based Card GeForce 2 but will this card suffice?
Nvidia Geforce FX6200 256MB AGP 8X 6200 Video Card
if not what the best card I should go with on an AGP 4x system (keep in mind that 4x is compatable with 8x cards for those who don't know) And also try to keep it with Nvidia Basded cards I have an ATI card in my system I bought a few months back and regret every penny I spent on it.

1. There is no FX6200. The FX series is the 5x00 series.
2. Its a really crappy card, but it'll play EVE.
3. A 6600GT would be a far better option, and you can get those for AGP. An x800 GTO would also work.

Ok I've checked out the 6600GT any other suggestions? Must be Nvidia AGP 8x and/or 4x.
The 6600GT is mostly PCIe I'm able to find very few AGP models on eBay any other suggests are welcomed

Only usable GeForce FX is the 5900. Which is as loud as jet-engine.

The FX5500 is even worse than the 6200. Its one of the worst cards ever made in the past 4 years.
It will hardly even play EVE.
P.S. CCP has nothing against eBay.

I can confirm most of this. My desktop is using a FX5500, and the framerate is ungodly sub par.
Another computer I have though, is running with a 6600, and I see constant 60-80 fps with that, on mostly default settings.

The GeForce 6200 works fine in my machine. There's some microhangs (1 or 2 seconds) here and there, but I think that's more to do with my 1.5Ghz processor than anything else.

Edited by: Max Hardcase on 18/09/2006 22:17:16 Best agp low $$$ solution would be 7600GS. Stay away from the 6xxx range. Bad value for money, and will be worse after the gfx changes go in.

Ok thanks, I just did a search through eBay and came across a few different brands, XFX, BFG, eVGA, MSI...., is one brand better than the rest or are they basically the same and which brand is perfered by most?????
Oh and is more RAM actually better because I see some 256MB models and 512MB models?

512MB is totally unnecessary. Don't get it unless its basically the same price.
The brand doesn't really matter.

Edited by: Max Hardcase on 29/09/2006 14:06:38 For more $$$ the leadtek 7600GT (agp) would be bout 15-20% faster. The problem is that there is only one manufacturer (leadtek) that makes the 7600gt for AGP so its harder to get and likely to be on a higher price. I couldnt find one on e-bay at any rate.
Having said that the 7600gs will be very good for the current EVE gfx and should handle the new gfx okay (guesstimate).
Out of curiosity what specs for the rest of your computer ? Mainly looking for RAM and CPU info, what wattage is your PSU ?
