Edited by: Shin Ra on 16/09/2006 17:27:41 Mozzarella Sticks are awesome, but going to TGI Fridays everytime I get a craving gets expensive. I haven't been able to find any for sale at any supermarkets in the UK? So I'm trying to make them from this Recipe.
Problem is, I've never seen slabs of Mozzarella for sale in the UK either. It always comes in a ball shape with the juice. So, where do I find it?

you'de prolly be better off with the ball in juice, and just make little bite size sticks. The ball is often fresher mozzerella and tastes better than the big block of it.

The one problem with fresh Mozz( the balls) is that it is realy soft. One you deepfry it, it might just fall apart. The block described above is most of the time too hard. If you can try to find a semi-soft mozz, it would be perfect.

Edited by: Traxio Nacho on 16/09/2006 21:00:30 Not sure they are upto the standard of TGI but well worth a try in the local Asda to me the pack of sticks are in the same place as the rest of the cheese.
Might have to try that recipe myself
Btw the slabs u get arent quite the size of that but should be more than enough for 1 or 2 helpings.

Shin just cut the mozzarella lenth ways follow a breading recipe and fry thm lightly in a little oil in a pan.. Alternatively go to M&S and buy them in those readymeal "american style" meals they have there...

Sainsbury's sell at least 3 kinds of mozarella - they do small packs of "wet" mozarella like you describe and they also do a buffalo mozarella, but that's also wet, but they also sell larger packs of the cows-milk mozarella that isn't wet, it's a rectangular slab which should do you fine
