Serious, some patches ago this "feature" got in but I personally find it completely pointless. Where is the point in it? Devs? Have you ever tried to rename 71 ships after moving them in a freighter? Try it without your dev powers.
Would be kind if a dev/bh could enlighten me about this.
(give us a session timer plz in the upper left corner similar to the aggression time)

An incredibly stupid thing that serves no purpose but to annoy the player base - I personally find the 30 second ship change over immersion breaking - give us an animation showing our pod moving into the ship on a crane or something.
Other crazy things include not being able to dock at your own outpost when you aggress .... and the session change timer on jumping into a system...........
I'd like to suggest CCP add the sound Windows makes when you get an error to these dialog boxes............

I think this was done to avoid people renaming and traing ships as other ships (ie a caracal renamed to a cerberus). However this shouldn't be done on assembled ships, that's just as annoying as not being able to access containers in your cargo hold...
imho things like this shouldn't be in to protect care-free people who don't check what they buy.

1) you could never change repackaged ship names
2) you hop into a carcal change it to cerberus hop into other ship and the carcal remains named cerberus, even in trade window.
3) people who dont check what they buy are dumb
