Hello Capsuleers,
i'm an explorer and i dither between skilling gallente or amarr frig level 5. My main target is to unlock covert ops and interceptor frigs for the purpose of exploration. Both skills are at level 3 at the moment. Which one should i take to level 5? I would appreciate your help!

Personally I prefer the Amarr Covert Ops Anathema (as it's quite easy to fit)but it's just a personal choice, most people seem to use the Astero at the moment. In the end you will want all of the frigates to lvl 5 anyway.

matter of preference but I like the malediction/crusader and anathema a lot.
malediction has 3 mids meaning it can fit both analysers and makes null exploration extremely safe with its agility and immunity to bubbles.
Anathema has a bit of a hard time fitting everything compared to the helios but helios also has a redundant extra mid, they're pretty close in terms of efficiency but anathema actually has a bonus that benefits exploration (cap recharge) so i prefer that. |

This. I'd do both and go for an Astero personally. If you don't want to go that route and you're only looking at exploration, I'd take an Anathema over a Helios. While the fifth mid on the Helios opens up some options (like fitting a shield tank or fitting tackle on a battle Helios) the hull just doesn't do it for me.
At the end of the day though? Most covops frigs are about the same. It's just that the Astero is also combat capable. |

Thanks for your replies, it helped alot! If it is just a matter of taste i'll choose the helios and ares, because im a proud gallente and amarr are slaver scum. :D
For me, the Astero is too expensive for out of high sec use. I simply couldn't afford loosing it. |

You will eventually change your mind after the first successful relic site tour in southern nullsec . But Galente ceptors are great, I like the Taranis for "robust" exploring and it's a good DPS ship in ceptor roams.
I'm my own NPC alt.
