So I had a post in Market Here saying I'm getting out of the Miner II market. Sabahl, a rather amusing gent in a sort of cromagnon manner, took it as my surrender to his business savy I assume. So he took the time to gloat. And I quote:

Now fellas, I'm truly shocked and dismayed at myself for not gleaning the aforementioned cromagnon gent's intent.
When I read the first reply, I figured he meant what the good ole American Heritage Dictionary defines as: A snicker. I'm appalled I could have been so wrong.
And people wonder why I'm getting out of the market when the likes of him imagined they were competing on even keel. Beating him everday was like using a .45 to his starter's pistol in a duel.

Okay, i appear to have totally missed the boat on this one, as I have no idea what anyone is talking or reacting to.
From what i assumed, the original poster used the word 'snig ger' meaning to laugh. This was blocked as the word is composed of 'nig ger' which is on the blocked list.
The original poster then edited with 's (person of black origin)' or something similar. Last time I looked this was what 'nig ger' meant, but a term not used, as it is degrading, and thus is sucessfully blocked by the forum language code.
I didn't as any stage get the implication the original posetr was racist, as he wasn't at any stage using the word 'nig ger', he was merely saying that 'snig ger' is blocked due to its content.
US citizens appear to use the term 'snicker' in place of 'snig ger', for a term of the same basic meaning, and I believe this is where Jashes assumption that 'nicker' had been blocked.

Well let me slow it down for some of you.
You write a perfectly harmless word that the word filter misinterprets as a banned one and asterisks out.
So you go back and make a second reply using a workaround to post the explicitly racist stereotype the word filter attempted to intercept.
Now I have to agree with others that these forums would be empty. Good form for those that figured it out without help.

I love word filters - the way they upset more people by censoring swearing than are offended by the swear words in the first place.
And the way they don't work since all you have to do is a-d-d a few other chara cters to fool them.
And the way they try to protect people from the words they already know and use.
Oh - and the way they treat adults like children and children like idiots by assuming we couldn't express our own dislike of some words or just cope with others using them.
It's like the Victorians making covers for table legs in case they reminded people of women's legs and led them to improper desires.

Then your corp mates started posting and I finally get why you're like you are. I'm quite happy that you've found your place in your Eve life.
