SO doing a search for Shirld Tanking seems to get me bupkis on haulers and even looking at other ship set ups varies so much, I thought I would post and ask the professionals ( yeah thats you ) About suggestive setups for running haulers in 0.0
Currently Using a tandem team of a Badger II ( 2/6/3 ) and a IT V ( 2/5/5 ) I will often run them with
Hi Tractor Beam soon to be cloak able
Med 10mn AB
Low 1 or 2x Cargo Exp 2 or 3x Warp Core Stabs
its simple, in-lock/drag-out but I think I would like to have some 'insurance' of a little more shield ability. As you can see I dont use much if anything in the mids atm.
Suggestions?

If you are trying to survive long enough to make a gate or station you want to be full passive so you can jump/dock. If you are trying to stay alive while you align to warp out you can be more active.
Badger II has a good set of mids and enough cap to support it.
I go something like 10mn AB, med shield extender, 3 passive hardeners and 1 invulneribility field.
But you are still not going to be terribly surviveable.
Depending on skills and willingness to drop lows you can maybe get two extenders and 3 passive hardeners.
The best thing for indies is nano's/stabilizers to help you align faster and bookmarks, oh and a scout. If you hit a bubble you are just going to die no matter what.

Edited by: Sathrai on 18/09/2006 17:39:03 Basically you just want to soak up as much punishment as possible before you warp, so having lots of ablative hit points to chew through will save you endless grief. As such, you'll want to go for lots of shield extenders and an invuln field or two. If you have comprehensive instas, don't bother with an afterburner and instead fit as many medium/large shield extenders as you can; t2 ones ideally. Bubble camps are usually going to see you dead whether you have an afterburner or not.
I think I've got a Mammoth to over 4000 shields before...and my shield skills aren't that great. Saved my hide against more than a few multi-Gankageddon gatecamps!

Thanks for the input guys ,
gonna try a med extender or 2, amp, invul or 2 and an ab
would a small nos be worth fitting with just 5k range?

Surviving in a T1 Industrial depends on 3 factors:
1) How quickly you can align for warp.
2) How quickly you can align for warp.
3) How quickly you can align for warp.
See where this is going? Slowboating it to a gate will get you killed. Period.
If you do not have instas, and you get caught in a gate camp, odds are you will die.
If you're in a T1 Hauler in 0.0 space you can get killed by every mook in a frigate that wants to take a look at your cargo. If you're in a T1 Hauler and you get hit in Empire Low-Sec then you've got a ship firing on you that can either tank sentries, or kill you in less than 2 volleys from 150km away.
T1 Industrials are specifically designed to be the spaceship version of a pinata: Hit them hard enough and all kinds of wonderful goodies will pop out!
The only way they're semi-invulnerable is if they're in warp, or in between gates.

Probably not much you can to that would matter in low sec/0.0. I've got 4x medium and 1x small shield extender IIs on one of my mammoths though. 5k shield HP should be enough to make for an unpleasant surprise for most high-sec suicide gankers
