These BPOs, is it any idea to research ME/PE on them? Not thinking about time vs ISK earning tradeoff. When you list them it doesn't say like "Perfect 10 units [You 14]".
Will these values drop when researched or does ME1 or ME10 make no difference at all in parts needed? |

The [You 14] is caused by your Production Efficiency skill, not the ME of the blueprint. Once you have Production Efficiency 5, you won't see the [You...] thing anymore.
Researching ME on a titan is possible. Researching the Ragnarok to ME 1, for example, would save about around 2 bil if my math is right. That's about 4%. So... if you happen to be sitting on a Ragnarok BPO and don't plan to use it for 6 months, you might as well. ---

I have been trying to calculate if any(?) parts would be saved on a carrier bpo when researching it to ME1 but I can't seem to work it out. Do you know if it will save any parts by researching it? |

Anything using over 10 parts is guaranteed to have waste. So yes, ME1 will save parts. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

Being that IÆm at work I cant get in game to check out the actual stats on the BPOs but the rule of thumb I was told to use is take the highest use (component in this case) number of a 0.1, divide that by 5 and round down to the nearest number to get optimal use from the BP. Anything beyond that will take an excessive amount of time to research with little benefit due to diminishing returns. With a BP at 0.1 waste factor researching to ME1 you essentially cut your waste in half. Beyond that on a huge research time BP is really up to you. Some BPÆs are perfect at ME0 or 1 due to the numbers of minerals/components required and others wouldnÆt be perfect till they are in the thousands it really depends on how much time you want to invest waiting.
I could be completely wrong on this; itÆs just how I understand it.

Edited by: Zatch on 22/09/2006 06:55:00 Researching the Thanatos BPO to ME1 reduces all waste to 0 except on the Capital Drone Bays. Researching to ME9 reduces ALL waste including the Drone Bays to 0. Of course, at ME1 you are only wasting 2 drone bays, and at ME3 you are only wasting 1 drone bay.
Try out MLCalc, it's a utility I created for exactly this kind of discussion (it displays wastage at any ML, as well as suggesting the ideal ML on a material-by-material basis, see the screenshot in the program's thread.) :)
