So, scuttlebutt says there's 3, maybe 5 Titans out thtere somewhere. While I'm not asking people to disclose their location or who possesses them, I (and I'm sure many others) would like to see that they exist.
Anyone have screens or other evidence that they're out there?

I don't think you will ever see a titan as long as capital ships can be destroyed so easily... The only thing you might see is its jump portal dumping a fleet on your head...

Well, if I had a Titan, I would sure as hell use it all the time. That superweapon is awesome. You don't need to take it out of a safespot either.

I pity the first person who has to fly a Titan on TQ. The potential for investment-busting bugs is just mind boggling.

I think titans are quite a force, however they are such an investment that people after knowing who has one, would hunt it down in fleets consisting of hundreds of ships.
Once u know who has a titan, it only takes about 35bs's to take it down, if it doesnt have cover....

on top... A titan will never be found alone and getting 35 battleship pilots on top of a Titan without support would be difficult to say the least.
Deepsafed Titan, Cyno, Superweapon = owned. plus, people that will have one, will also have 2 or 3 motherships accompanying them.

Right, since they can be webbed and scrammed. No way they could just warp or jump out. I would hope someone with a titan would be smart enough to keep it aligned for the next SS incase they get found by "35 BS's" anyways.

i think the real problem is they are just not cost effective. you can buy at least 20 dreadnaughts + fittings for the cost of one titan hull. it's rediculous. that's why goonfleet's all frig policy is so smart. 1 bil can buy their whole corp new frigs. and a titan vs wave after wave of 100's of frigs doesn't stand a chance. again it's all about the money. but yeah i'd love to see one and get to see it use it's superweapon. of course i'd probably be the target, but it's so worth it

You won't even be sieging in a Titan, it's not that kind of ship. The comparison would be to carriers/motherships; 1 Titan buys a whole fleet of Carriers, and that will likely offer a lot more hurt than a sole Titan. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

Edited by: Jones Maloy on 19/09/2006 03:58:12 Edited by: Jones Maloy on 19/09/2006 03:57:41 i'm reasonably sure a titan that's properly lined up can take out 35+ battleships with it's superweapon. but it really depends on how the damage is applied. i think they are area weapons. if the damage occurs instantly (37500) then almost any BS will pop like corn. if the damage is spread over a few seconds it will pop every BS and their pod . damage might also be split among available targets but i really can't do anything but guess. so i suggest we all get together on singularity and do some experiments. "volunteer targets welcome"
edit: considering it's usualy blob warfare if a titan is even pointed vaguely in the direction of the incoming fleet they are so ****ed

Some things to consider:
Doomsday devices use up about 30mil worth of fuel to fire, and have a cooldown from hell.
The gang bonus' from a Titan and some gang-warfare modules is immense.
Titans have 8 highslots, can fit capital weapons, can fit capital remote boosting modules, and are generally best left as defense fleet support
The remote doomsday being the really strong point.

Edited by: Twilight Moon on 19/09/2006 09:04:45 Personally I'd just use them as a seriously pimped out command ship, except one you never see. Sit them on a safespot in the same system as a large battle and let them boost a gang considerably.
Also, due to the size of the hangars and the clonebay, as more people come online, they can of course Jump Clone right into the battle, grab a ship and get into the action, with no mucking about.
Of course, if a hasty exit is required by the fleet, they just warp to the Titans SS, it open the jumpgate, and everyone is home in time for tea and biscuits. (Once the Jump Drives are seeded?)
...on the other hand using a banana might be a viable alternative.

Pasting from a previous thread 4TW!
You have two issues here:
1.) 67.5 billion BPO cost. Even for rich alliances, this is a nice chunk of change. Almost anyone capable of building a titan has diverted the savings toward Mom BPO's and is putting their money on them getting upgraded with special abilities / area effect weapons in the future.
2.) Utility. ATM, titans offer nothing actually USEFUL worth the effort of putting one together. Granted, the Avatar's cap bonus and the others similar gang bonuses are very attractive, but then I refer you back to #1.
It's about effort versus reward at this point. Even the alliances that can afford to do it are likely putting their efforts elsewhere.
TBH though, I'm still annoyed that the first Mom on tranquility was given away at the Tournament last year. If the prize for the next one is a Titan, I'm going to be ****ed. -

Capitals add very little to the game if you ask me. I guess carriers are nice.

The major reason that there are no supercapitals around except the ones handed out by CCP is of course the "big 4" and their attitude towards the capital ship POS arrays. If they hear of one a fleet is sent and its blown up. We have seen it several times.
Not many want to risk 20B in POS modules and minerals to build a mothership when they know it needs babysitting 23/7 for what is it, 4 or 6 weeks. Also, unless you wanna risk another 16B (the BPO) the build POS needs to be in a station system, making the POS easy to find.
