Considering there was no maior update in the last 4 weeks I begin to wonder.
It seems the devs are too much into their own pet projects, which will probably take 2 further months to finish, while there are other maior issues in the game still unsolved and people are leaving in droves.

I'm thinking the patch will be ready for this weekend, maybe next week, as they were shooting for today last week.

at this speed if the next patches are same as old... which bring more problems then fixes, the player base will keep on dropping and soon this game will not have the funds to live... sad but true.
I know of so many people that are just waiting and not playing the game right now... and either have RL or just lost interest in the game, of course most time its a combo of RL and lost of interest in game
but before you could at least, hmm give eve more priority because it was fun to play, but now RL gets more priority as eve just... well staling.

Edited by: illuminati on 27/10/2003 09:56:42 CCP have been cutting down alot I think.
I mean check the fixes/time ration 4 months ago compared to now. Over 2 weeks with not much at all fixed on Chaos? Or maybe they are all working on superbig stuff, I dont know.
But I do know 50-80% of all people I know are waiting for cancelation, not sure about you.
Thanks for a good summer
Edit: On a sidenote, there is a system for quality assurance known as QFD. It basically boils down to your company asking the customer what he wants before you put it in development, like add a poll, vote on here or something. That avoids misdirected priority to a big extent, like fixing/bugging the chats and fonts and adding cloaking instead of doing a 100% run towards pvp mechanic improvement, getting better npc missions and getting stations for example.

Currently no patch date is set. CCP is working on bugfixes and additions to the game. Most of them are not fineshed yet. After all changes are made they will be announced in a patchlog. You will see a week of heavy bugfixing before the patch hits TQ. We will announce the upcomming TQ-patch here when all needed changes are done. Please continue to submit bugreports. We are gathering them. Some of the bugs you sent in are already fixed. You will see more bugfixing during the next week.

Can someone explain to me the patching methods here. Why do they fix stuff then hold it for 4 weeks to add it in with other things? It's impossible for me to believe that all bug fixes aren't finalized until the last day right before patch. Some of those fixes are done before then and could have been added to Tranq.
Why can't you FIX SOMETHING then PATCH THE GAME that day?
Mega patches are THE SUCK for a few reasons.
1) If there's a problem (which there usually is) then you have 1000 fixes to pin down as the culprit. If we patched often you could see that patch blahblah was the problem.
2) The paying customers have to sit on ANNOYING AND GAME hindering bugs for an entire month. This is a huge concern right now.
Let me as the forum here....Would you guys rather have huge massive uber patches and wait for 4 weeks or more to fix bugs?
Or would you rahter wait an extra 2 minutes of start up time to patch your client once in a while when the fix something.
One thing that should have been patched weeks ago was the HANGER bug. Come on people... ---------------------------------------

I dont know if history showed us anything in eve, is that mega patchs SUCK!! what makes the dev's and CCP think that this next mega patch will be different? all it takes is 1 SMALL thing they over look and BOOM!! it will blow up in there face and the splash dmg will hit us and we will be screwed!
I also dont understand why we cant get the bug fixes patched... give us 1 week to play the game just with the patch with bug fixes... then fix the patch whatever we find and then put in new content...
that is the way to GO, "we" player base will not stand and watch and live with some major bug that shows up and wait another month or so for some major bug to be fixed when that previous patch brought...
this will drive away even more playes. support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

I think CCP should take Jolo's advice. Afterall the majority of the Players I know in EVE ARE APPLICATION DEVELOPERS! I am not the greatest programmer but I am can hold my own and am a hardware genius. People in my corp are programmers, engineers and work around million dollar equipment in RL. So you not gonna push off many excuses on us before we stop eating the poo your trying to feed us.
Even if you work at Walmart you know that costomer service is the key to success. Should CCP take a pill and ASK us what we want? YES. Look I don't have much against not having a patch because I come from FPS game background. Patch once a year maybe... but I am starting to realize most of these ****ed off folks in Eve have 4 to 8 MMORPGs under their belts and know how what a good game should be like.
Just remember CCP... your not Sony and you don't have 2 tried and true liscenses ( EQ and SW )that give you an instant hit. Give your customers what they ask for in terms of patches. They aren't asking for you to Rush out and put Titans in the game... just Fix things like the Corp hangars for the sake of mary. It would be to your benefit, not detriment, to let us know your working on things and getting things accomplished. Accomplished being the key word. And after last patch you have no room for bullcrap.

just a note here -
I think that there are read file or "hot fixes" going in during DT (I've seen some changes to agent rewards and length of missions myself). I really hope that the Dev's will take the time to let us know there are changes being implemented at the time they occur- don't change game mechanics and not tell me - thanks

I compleatly agree with the Post¦s above.
Please fix this dammed Member Hangar bug. and some other things when you have the Patch for this bug ready. I mean you have the soulution for a Problem and simply don¦t put it in.. you gather so many Bugfixes (in the meantime we your loyal Customers need to play with workarounds and less comfort) that some of them would simply put new bugs in. A weekly small Bugfix Patch would be fine. and even if you only fix a minor and not major bug. Make some anouncements about the status of bugfixing.
I see today that the once so good and fine working UPDATES section Development/Testing on the Player Website has a last post from 8 and 9.09.2003 That is more than a Month
You all on Holidays/Vacation ??? Even if something take longer that expectet. NP we can understand this, but you need to talk.
If you contenieu with this politicy i fear that the Eve Space is in 3 Month a empty room. And then you can¦t hear us screaming, course only you left.

yes those rules apply to everyting even in my noob days of learning comps... i know that if went to set up things in the bios for tweaking and o/c that i would find my system all screwed up very fast and i would spend a very long time trying to find out which setting it was that screw it up...
then like others have said that i would need to do 1 or few settings a time and test it out, and i found that it worked out very well.
im sure there are a few areas were big long patchs might work out ok, but not many area's i can think of. support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

We (the bughunter team and CCPs QA) are testing a new bugfix patch for TQ. It is only a client side patch. So no new features will be introduced. But some nice additions in UI will enter the game. E.g., you can search for items in the market by name now. The last build we tested had some small new bugs (which a bugfixing patch should not have ;) ) that we want sort out before we release it to all players. I think we wil test a new patch candidate today and maybe release it tomorrow if everything goes well. But don't count on that ;)
The larger patch will come in about 2-3 weeks and introduce a new standing system as well as enhancements to the agent system. Also the new build process for tech level II items will be in this patch. We will start the test/bugfix stage for this patch next week.

Preliminary patch notes were posted a few days back.
The recent dev-blog in particular, answers the complaints about a lack of smaller fix-patches. It should make it much easier for CCP to fix up problems in smaller patches while working towards seperate feature patches.

Hmmm...how about using some of the players to fix bugs. I've worked in QA as both engineer and tester and would gladly give some time to help fixing and testing more. I could probably bet that a lot of others would too. It's not about losing control it's about letting the players help some. I know we would all like to see things get fixed, why not use all the available resources CCP?

I think it is obvious that all of the screaming we are doing on the patch is getting through, but their process is such they cannot help it. So, my suggestion is to treat this like Diablo 2 and the 1.10 patch that took over a year to get out. I am sure they know they need to do it differently, but all of the screaming in the world will not help until they decide to change. Expect this on this patch and from now into the future.
I am not happy with this either, but until they properly tier their application and development process, it is actually impossible for them to release smaller patches.
Oh well. Go buy a nice bottle of Scotch and wait it out. After all, the Diablo II 1.10 patch did come out last month. :o) -Domaru

I really believe once this patch(like pulling teeth) is over we will have a 3/4 game. It will be soo intense that we will not even notice tech 3 coming. I think they figured out tech 1 problems and the things the geeks of the world can do. I think it will be better. Like with all games the first year the game is like a baby. You have to start right and if not correct before it gets too old.
Otherwise it might be come a pirate or a hacker and be evil........

Come on people, when are you going to give us this bug fix patch. Its ok if you miss a few, you can fix them in time for the patch to fix the bug fix patch.
Just give me a day's warning so I can start training a 4 or 5 day skill. I have been planning going to the movies when you do the next patch, if you leave it much longer the movies will be on DVD or TV.
I know you guys are busy but a lot of people are leaving the game, you got to do something to keep them interested.
