I could use some help/advice with an Iteron V setup wich I will have in a few days.
I want to use a MWD with it but it's base powergrid is at 35. With Engineering Skill at Level 4, the powergrid would be at 42-43.
The powergrid requirement for a MWD is 50. That still leaves 7 points missing. Even with Engineering 5 I wouldn't reach 50.
I want to know how people manage to use MWDs with Iteron Vs if I'm not asking too much hehe.
Thank you very much in advance.

err i'm sure there is a reply to this question somewhere in this fourm.

but the way you do it is put some Grid upgrades in the low slots. of couse you can't carry as much cargo

Quite frankly why would you want an MWD on your mk5? Have you seen the acceleration that you can get from 5 good afterburners? You should be able to get at least a 600% speed increase out of them without ruining your cargo capacity.

I have mine set up with a mixture of expanders and nanofibres in the low slots, three or four abs in the mid slots and a variety of other stuff in the other one or two depending on the task.

I am thinking of adding sensor dampeners to see if these will protect me from roving rates but it has been a long while since I last used them so I still have to test this theory.

I don't know how you get so much speed off the afterburners with the MarkV. Mine won't go over 200 with 4 Arcjets. I can't see how training a few skills +5% will make me as fast as a shuttle like some people boast.

Syme has already told you how to do it. Try reading and then checking what nanofibres do eh?

I can do 840m/s in mine. Try fitting decent burners and overdrives? Same skillset BTW.

If you want to add in a little punch for speed. theres some advanced modules of nanofiber. It gives +15 to speed and best part is it also gives +8% cargo and a bit of Agility for the really high pirated loot ones.

There is no other setup than the best cargo expaners and the best ABs if you've trained for an Iteron 5.

Got the Badger Mark II up to some 1050 m/sec today with 5 stock AFB's and no overdrives or nanofibers. No idea how much faster it would go with the rare modules, will check when the Chaos server gets up...

If you absolutely want to install a MWD, you'll have to use at least two slots for Reactor Control Units (which give you more power), to bring it to over 50.

So, 3 cargo expanders, 2 RCU's, and 1 MWD. MWD used to be good, but right now it will drain your cap too fast for it to be of use during a sustained flight (picking up ore for a mining operation). It's good for gate approaches, I guess, though.

You can probably get the same speed, sustained, with 5 afterburners. Afterburner I sucks; you can get 350 or so m/s with 5 expanders (max cargo capacity). You can get speeds similar to the MWD if you replace 2 expanders with 2 overdrive injectors, or 2 nanofibers. But then, like with the MWD setup, you'll only have 3 cargo expanders.

However, if you get some good named burners, you can probably get to 800 m/s or so with 5 of them AND 5 cargo expanders.

You've spent a month getting the skill for the ship. It is now time to spend the good cash getting it rigged up right: rare burners and rare cargo expanders. Good luck.

 Reply to Dalman....

Im not saying cargo expanders should not be used. He just wanted tips on making it faster with modules and not just skills. So I told him about the advanced nanos with +15 speed +8% cargo and a some agility so that he had a good idea of an item that could make him faster and still give him some cargo.

 np with that...

 But the thing is:
With good skills and 5 good afterburners you go FASTER than with 1 MWD.
And you get the benifit of the low cap drain and can use all 5 loslots for cargo expanders.

... Am sorry to say it but if you get only 350 m/sec with 5 stock AFB's then it's your skills that 'suck', not the equipment.

Also, given the best custom AFB's give you 30% base speed boost, without skills they'll only give you some 400+ m/sec.

Training acceleration control skill to say, lvl.4 means you get ~50% speed bonus from single Afterburner I. With 5 of them this means your ship will reach the speed of at least 850+ m/sec. And if it's not enough you can always train the acceleration control higher...

Iv seen this sort of thing done before where a person has raised from the dead a 3 year old thread i just really want to know is, how or why did you decide to do it???

Unfortunatly you cannot fit several ab's on your iteron and if it is loaded with expanders 200m/s is probably about as good as you can get unless you do like the previous ancient posters mentioned which was to train up Acceleration Control and not to use overdrives.
