I saw some interesting planetary flight artworks here a while back and was inspired.

a bit dark but looks really nice
it looks 'grainish' on my display, like a scan

Dark, agreed there,
I think there is a little detail lacking with the background, or maybe I can't see it because of the darkness.
I personally think the contrast is not there somehow.

Aye well. Nice art.
However, how will the background story science gits out there tackle vessels designed for spaceflight handling like jet fighters in an atmosphere?
Please.
I'd say introduce atmospheric combat vessels carried on ... carriers? Dont go painting yourselves up in a corner, having you have to change concepts halfway through implementing plantary interaction and planetary flight.
Please.

It is much better without the grainy look. But I for one loved the low light level.
If I could find a system that dark in eve I would probably move in and never leave.
Also, the planetary flight video is very old. No it's certainly not in kali, and probably not coming anytime soon, if ever.

It was part of kali initially, then kali became half of what exodus was supposed to be and it got pushed back.

I like the grainy one but I think that it's too grainy and the clean one is too clean (looks like cut and paste). I'm not being negative the pic is absolutely stunning.
Can you add a grainy one but less grainy than the original?

small/large version, hmm dunno don't like them. The cleaner version is very pretty worked up.
Planet:
work more on the planets details (shapren filter for the texture after resizing, maybe emboss to get a more 3D like texture).
second point is: if you use additional planets in your terraspace texutre these planets are also affected by light (color depends on how far they are away from the viewpoint), which means they need a atmossphere that reflects the light were it hits it (select the planet, make an additional layer black layer above, turn it to screen and set outer glow, inner glow and inner shadow as you like to get a adequate result)
Stars:
Randomize your stars as much as you can, atm they look like a plain boring starfield without 'character'. play a bit with the noise filter and contrast/light settings, resize, stamp, etc. Brushes with textures work well :)
Terragen:
Put more effort into the surface map (now it looks just like a red plain texture with some brown bits 'n' pieces) and the atmossphere, especially the crossing of space and the atmossphere needs to be reworked.
Ships: Are they rendered or are they just cut and pasted? If rendered nice work, if cut and pasted you need to work more on the integration, like the shadows and the light.

Thanks for all the helpful comments, this piece is really a kind of dry run before I go for a print quality work (hopefully a 20"x30" poster). I may redo it for wallpapers etc in the next day or two though.
@ N'irrti: The ships are rendered but I messed up the lighting (fixed in my working version now :P) and good points which I agree with :).
