I would reply to the related topic(s) but it seems many good threads get closed for whatever reason beyond my understanding.
As the jackass I am, I gave up on EVE only to come back, missing out on many months of skill queue that I could've kept going at least.
So exploration sites and cans. I'm reading another thread, and it assumes that I'll be able to identify the good cans so I don't waste my time on the garbage. Could someone elaborate on this? The sites I have done, I position my ship within just enough range to see all the cans as they start to spread out and begin a crazy click fest. there is no time to identify anything, let alone recover 1/4 of the cans. Because of this and making the limited paltry ISK on garbage, I started training other things and then unsubed for awhile.
So how do I identify cans and target the right ones in the 5 or so seconds I have before the cans are moving fast at the outer edges of my view?
Also, in some of the good exploration guides, CovOps ships and T2 equipment is recommended. I'm still months away from all of this. I'm pondering just keeping my training queue topped up for a few months and play when I actually have some skills. |

No loot spew?
So I don't need a salvager, and I do need a scanner? Can't have both. I see why the threads are now locked; they are out-of-date...

Just a scanner will do.
But be aware. There are no 1.6 zillion newbs scanning everything. Stations, ships, sites...everywhere.

FYI, Shoulder pads and parachute pants are no longer in style, and the seemingly unstoppable powerhouse that was Oingo Boingo hasn't officially been heard from in over 15 years (although its been more like 20).
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Are you exploring in hisec, lowsec, nullsec or w-space? In hisec you can easily step in with T1 ships and modules, some sites might be harder to pinpoint/loot completely, but most sites are doable. For the other three options, it depends on your goal. Are you planning on hit and runs? Here you can find a nice video of someone using a cheap ship/fit for nullsec exploration that mostly won't need much training either (it's a bit outdated, since the amount of moduleslots have been changed, but still useful).
The main questions would be are you making a bit of profit or breaking even doing it and are you having fun doing it. If both questions can be answered with yes, I can't see why you should wait for more skills. Your skills as a player are more important than your character's skills after all.
