What advice can you folks give me regarding tanking Rats in Empire (0.5 ish) in a Hulk?
If your realy creative, and I'm feeling mad, what fitting for low sec mining?

high - strips
meds - 2x named hardeners, eutetic cap recharger, gistii a-type small sb
lows - mining upgrades (pdu/co-proc if you have crap skills)

For Mining in a 0.5 you dont need any tank at all the rats are so week your not going to get killed use use some medium drones to kill them each time some turn up
Can anyone tell me how good skiffs are at tanking in 0.0 or is its cap and shields too low and can it be done without haveing to buy a fraction shield booster?

Hmmm Using a named Shield Booster on a half a billion isk ship kinda makes sense but so far I've found I've not needed to go THAT far.
I've found that with normal sheild rechargers I can sheild tank rats in 0.6 or 0.5 ok (Take about 1/4 shield damage and hold that normally).
The "mining upgrades" are often mentioned and although I'm a bit of a forum troll I never see them specified - what are they and are they any good to solo miners?
As for someone elses comments regarding dying to interceptors - well don't most things?

My alt once killed a Raptor with her Covetor's drones. 
A well-tanked Hulk with a bay of T2 or EW/web drones could give an inty a nasty shock if they're not careful!

Gee, 10% extra yield, would that really benefit a solominer? Or if you can fit two(wich the Hulk is the only one capable off if I remember correctly) 20%?
Mining upgrades are great.
