Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?
If TV execs become squeemish about staff risk-taking after this and the australian bloke, we would only need a few well-timed accidents to take reality TV off the airwaves forever. Think about it, then contact your local representative of unfortunate acts of divinity. I think they work adjunct to most theaturgical institutions.

THE HAMSTER CANNOT DIE.
it would have beeen a hell of a way to go out though, at 280+ mph by the "Vampire". Sigh, and we all laughed when his van rolled over on the Track. :(
At least he's stable now...hopefully nothing he can't recover from (being in the neurological place and all.) -------

I thought the "Should I worry about..." series he did was really good. And that programme about children's books.

Yeah, Top Gear wont be the same if he doesn't recover
Lesson to be learnt though. Don't fit a MWD to your car.

Little worried how the docs keep saying "he will make a good recovery" instead of "he will make a full recovery". Lets hope he does make a full one so jeremy can rip it out of him!

QFT, hammond and clarkson are hilarious together, and I sure as hell hope he pulls though.
He's a great guy and has done a lot for television in recent years.

Apparently he is still comatosed. However, when clarkson was with him overnight, apparently he (clarkson) felt the need to take the **** out of the hamster.
He said to the hamster, god your a crap driver.
the HAMSTER GAVE A WRY SMILE - whilst uncouncious. Apparently that is a REALLY good sign that he is going to be ok - moreover it is good news that humour is helping him !!!

Just on the news he's been moved out of intensive care. Thats at least 1 bit of good news, now lets hope this "significant brain injury" isn't as bad as it sounds. ___________________________________________________ Serenity Prime Is Recruiting |

My mother (who works as a secretary in a hospital) says it depends on the extent of the brain damage. If it's minor, then there's a chance he will recover, but it really depends on the extent of it, and like they said "serious brain unjury" ... We can only hope for the best. ---

"Hammond's condition was downgraded from "serious but stable" to "stable" in the morning of September 22, when he was moved out of intensive care.[6]
On the same day ITV News reported that Hammond was conscious and was talking to friends and family."

Apparently the only visual damage is that he has a very, very black eye, but there's no lens or retina damage. So he might be ok! ---

Yes I can't understand why they've done that. Saying that though they do tend to show the same few episodes over and over. ___________________________________________________ Serenity Prime Is Recruiting |

Yeah, Hammond would want the show to go on - even without him. But the fact he went to take a **** in the middle of the night 30 hours after the crash just goes to show that he's in good shape, hopefully the 'significant' brain injury isn't as bad as it sounds! ---

Did he manage to break the landspeed record before the accident? I do hope he recovers swiftly. As well as being a charismatic TV presenter, the fact he's as much a biker as he is a gear head has endeared him in my mind. I always enjoyed his columns in MCN and hope he's back to writing them soon -------------

My condolences are with him and his family, he is a very charismatic and funny TV presenter, and from the shows I have seen him in, he is great. Very sad to hear such a terrible thing to happen to another presenter, even so quickly after we have just lost Steve Irwin.
ItÆs even more of a shame to hear the criticism against presenters taking risks, IÆm sure that everything they do is very well planned and supervised. Top Gear is such a great show and its terrible to think it might even come close to being cancelled.
However its amazing that even after the worst of tragedys, something good can come out of it, I quote:
Originally by: LONDON (Reuters) Meanwhile Hammond well-wishers have donated over 134,000 pounds to a charity for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which air-lifted the Top Gear presenter to hospital after Wednesday's crash.
I donÆt in any way say that what has happened is good, however its amazing that peoples well wishes can help others. ---------- Gotta be on the ball.. ball? what ball.. that ball.. which ball.. AHH BALL!! |

F**K YEAH. GO HAMSTER.
I love how he was just like "hey*****face" to May, lol. The entire article is a very very good read - and I mean it. Everything happened before, during, and after the accident. Top Gear ftw.
The final comment is a little disheartening though. You'll see what I mean. -------

Its good to hear that the little hamsterman is doing ok, calling May a*****face is a good sign.
They'd better not take Top Gear off the Air, its about the only decent thing the BBC still produces. Hammond, Clarkson and May are the only reason I still look at any of the BBC channels.
