Which would you consider to be the stronger PVP Cruiser for either solo, duo, or small gang PVP?
Feel free to assume maxed fitting skills, etc. I'd have Cruiser V in the appropriate race's Cruiser skill, but due to expense don't want to be using T2 Cruisers for PVP.
Thanx in advance.

The thorax will rip the stabber apart unfortunately. Regardless of what the stabber pilot does. It doesnt have the slots to support a huge solo advantage. On the other hand if u insist on using a minnie ship the Rupture is perhaps the only t1 cruiser to be able to go 1v1 w a thorax.

your question should be:
Thorax vs. Rupture

Stabber fitted in a similar fashion to a vagabond is lethal, can take down pretty much any ratting ship apart from a raven, due to the mwd those missiles really do that little bit too much damage. (orbit at 500m, take out the drones first and its easy prey)
Its cheaper than a thorax aswell, however, the stabber is weak in tank abilities in comparison.
Best duo combination that i've flown with is a stabber and a blackbird combined, however if your flying with a blackbird you'd be able to fit a thorax for full gank setup which would be better than the stabber.

Any idea what that stabber setup was? I saw the t2 dual 180 but what bout the missiles and the mids/lows? And are d180s better for that kind of work than 220s? I can only use t1 meds atm and wanna know what would be the best. _______________________________________________

that was a shield tanked thorax... it had no armor tank at all.
when two mwd based cruisers meet, and one of the cruisers relies on staying outside of the web range, disengaiging from the battle is easy for either of the ships.

Stabber ofcourse, a lot more manouvarable, can run out of most situations, nearly killed a pilgrim in it and killed a cyclone + a brutix gate camping, didn't get the typhoon though :(
was using something like 4 dual 180mm II's 2 heavy launchers 10mn mwd, large extender disruptor 2 gyro's and a nanofiber internal or another gyro if u have enough cpu

My money is on the stabber too actually, if the pilot is good and dont let the thorax close the distance. But it takes some fancy flying. :)

The stabber can beat a thorax using the orbit at 13km tactic - in fact the same tactic could possible have you beat a deimos (I tried but ran out of cap using the LSE setup and got webbed - close though)
having t2 guns and barrage ammo essential for this
couple of setups (they are weak so you have to avoid fire not tank it)
4*ac, 2*missile MWD, 20km, Large Shield Extender Gyro, DC, Nano
4*ac, 2*missile MWD, 20km, (web or med cap booster) MAR, EANM, Gryo or plate (not sure about PG fit)

Edited by: ZelRox on 21/09/2006 13:24:29 doesnt dual 180mm t2 + gyro 2 have better DOT because of tracking compared to 220mm.
I used dual 180mm t2 on a rupture, with 2 gyros, the damage output was mean. ---------------------- I got pwnt by the giggling admiral BiH 4tw |

Not in the case of the stabber because the stabber needs range before anything else in it's weapon systems. For that reason 220s are a better choice as you will be firing your weapons are the edge of your fall off.

I don't fly minnie ships, though I might start - they look fun but the 220 and the 180 appear to have the same falloff and the optimal difference is negligible so I'm not sure that the difference in range matters - please correct me if I'm wrong

Both are good ships , I fly minnie so personally fly the stabber alot more than thorax , as said at close range the thorax will always win , even if someone was to show me a link of them beating a nOOb in their stabber , in web range blasters rock most ships .
I'd like to give you a decent thorax setup but am new to them but a stabber setup I use and works well
4 x Dual 180 II's 1 heavy Missile Launcher 1 Medium NOS
10mn MWD 20km Scrambler Large Shield Ext.
Damage Control 2 Gyro II's
Could swap the NOs for another Launcher give it a bit more oomph , especially if you know what your doing you don't use the NOS all that often , the damage control is obvious and has saved me a few times , and becasue your using the shields you can use the lows to stack up on damage which the stabber lacks ( compared to Rupture and definatley the Thorax ) .
