Me June	Posted - 2006.09.20 20:58:00 - [4] Assuming caldari/gallente cruiser 5, a osprey will have 100% yield bonus, meaning it will basically have 6 Miner II's. The vexor has no mining bonus except for the drones, which i dont think will make up for the missing 2 Miner II's.

Concero	Posted - 2006.09.21 03:16:00 - [10] The Scythe has the same mining bonus but having used both the Osprey and the Scythe, the Scythe sucks basically. Once you have 3 Miner 2's fitted you generally have nothing much left over to fit any sort of tank let alone use the 2 remaining high slots. The Osprey has slightly better fitting and the much bigger drone bay with 4 light drones does allow you to fight of high sec rats before your tank blows. Not so the Scythe IME. I found fitting six rather than seven miner 2's on the Brutix made it much easier to fit. I still needed 2 co-processors but with 7 miner 2's it was 4 or 5 co-processors. With 6 or 7 miner 2's your cargo won't hold one cycle of ore. I fitted 2 expanders so that didn't have to stagger the lasers coz quite frankly emptying the cargo once every 60 seconds is quite bad enough. With 7 miner 2's you will have to stagger the lazers because you will have maybe one low to fit an expander. You will not have much CPU left to fit a tank of any kind. I would just use the 6 miners to be honest. I used a shield tank in Empire. You also need to allow for some cap recharge as the miners really suck some juice. I used a tractor in the last high slot to suck the loot from the rats my drones killed. Something the Domi can't do. Domi - what a beut. And a cinch to fit. I use a 6 expanders in the lows just so that I can empty the cargo every 3 minutes like a strip miner. I'm just lazy I guess. I have a MAR in the remaining low and 6 Barton cap rechargers in the mids. But I've never had the rats get through the shields in 0.5 yet.

Mining drone 1's on a vexor, 15 x 1.15 (mining drone op 3) x 1.30 (cruiser level 3) = 22.42 ore/min max Total 89.7(4 x mining drones) + 375.0(4 x Miner 2's) = 464.7 ore/min optimum At Gallente Cruiser lvl 4 (With Battleship 1 the Dominix is also available) Miner 2 = 60 (base yield) x 1.25 (level 5 mining) x 1.25 (astrogeology 5) = 93.75 ore per minute, per laser. Mining drone 1's on a vexor, 15 x 1.15 (mining drone op 3) x 1.40 (cruiser level 4) = 24.15 ore/min max Total 96.6(4 x mining drones) + 375.0(4 x Miner 2's) = 471.6 ore/min optimum In summary, unless you have drones 5 and drone interfacing at 3 or 4 the Osprey is the better miner by a long way. But after saying that, these skills take 1-2 weeks to train and if your aiming for the Dominix you'll need them eventually anyway.

My Drone Skill is level 4 atm. and everything else in drones that i can have trained without needing lvl 5 is also at 4. This should give some idea on how I feel about drones. As soon as I get in the Dominix, my next month is being solely devoted to Drones. The reason I am not getting a Barge is because I am kind of between Corps right now and I would like to be able to defend myself from rats. The 375m3 drone capacity will help me with this.
