The server should warp your capsule for you.
Yes, I'm freaking sick of paying for clones because the client chokes when my ship blows up, or my connection isn't perfect.
I'm fine with giving people an 'auto target' setting that has them auto-targets capsules as soon as they eject.
There is no skill involved. I'm sitting there spamming warp to safe spot, and their sitting there spamming lock target. It just comes down to lag and hardware.
It is stupid.

Warp to a planet, then warp to safe. Much quicker than using the menues.

1 of the reasons why you experience lag is that you recieve your own killmail. I would check the options of your mail-folder. Keyword: "blink off" 
If you have more questions about the game: i personally teach pilots for 100 mil/h. In 1 hour i can teach you anything you need to survive nearly any situation in EVE.

There is a certain point when you KNOW you're going down... Don't wait your ship to blow up. Instead, select a celestial object and start hammering the "Warp To" button in the Selected Item Overview. And don't stop until you see you're in warp with your pod.
Works for me every time and I haven't lost a pod after I started doing this. And I've been in VERY laggy situations.

Juste use the strg+q cheat it even works in warp bubbles.
It¦s pointless to use the menus because you are most times dead before you can gain control of your pod due lag.

Turning off graphical Effects also helps a LOT. It removes a lot of the ship-death lag.
