Hi
I've been witness to the following which I believe is a broken/ exploit of a valid mechanic.
Person A in interceptor or e-war frigate with high manoeuvrability warps on grid of a fight persons B in their fleet assist their drones. to them. A then aggresses person in the opposing fleet lets say person C
Person A warps off or persons B revoke the assist on the drones. The drones keep shooting person C even after A is no longer on Grid.
The whole time Persons B are barely range of their drones, and are unable to even target person c
Whilst I have no problem with the assist mechanic in general I personally believe that if you assist your drones to someone and they warp off or they are unassisted they should reset their aggression.
This obviously does not apply to assigned fighters as they follow the person who warps off
Thank you Inthehole |

... So you are complaining that drones will keep attacking the last target they were told to attack?
Just FYI, you do not need to be in drone control range for your drones to attack, you merely need to be inside the control range to tell them to attack initially.
So if A assists drones to B, and B attacks C while within a valid drone control range of A, the drones attack. After that point, it doesn't matter if B is jammed, or warps off, or is destroyed, since the drones already got their marching orders.
It's a similar situations to say A telling drones to attack C directly, then being jammed out. Drones will continue to attack the same target until told otherwise, even if the target leaves active drone order range or if the drone host is jammed.
TLDR: Not an exploit, deal with it. |

Well unless you are more than 250K away, then they stop fighting, well at least thats my experience.

The issue is not that the assist mechanic which is used. For example if A tells his drones to tattack C directly the warps off they stop shooting. But when assisted to B then B can warp off and the drones keep firing, or if the drones are unassisted to B they keep firing even though they have been giving a new command. That's why it's either a busted game mechanic or exploit I |

Reading comprehension level : nonexistant.
The drone controller was on field the entire time. The drones were issued an attack order while still in range of the drone controllers drone control range. They will then continue to attack until ordered otherwise, or the host ship leaves grid, dies, or (maybe) as the above person says, reaches 250km away.
That's all that matters. Who told them to attack is completely irrelevant. This is neither an exploit, nor a busted game mechanic. |

Oh i'm sorry i'm showing up this busted mechanic.
The fix is simple if a drone is unassisted or the drone controller warps off then then drone stop firing as it has been issued a new command.
Honestly i have no clue how hard this is with the coding. |

A: If the drone controller leaves, the drones are abandoned and they stop firing. I assume you mean the person they were assisted to, like your earlier rants.
B: Why does the person who issued the attack order leaving grid mean that the drones have a new order?
C: I believe that telling a set of assisted drones to assist to another person does indeed stop them from attacking their current target.
Sigh... if I had a nickel.. |
