Why did CPSA just charge me 1,000 isk to reply to an EVE mail? All previous charges were only 100.

Depends what that person has set his CSPA charge to.

You can change the value manually.

Edited by: Elgar Lightfoot on 21/09/2006 20:44:50 What do you mean? The other person is charging me to reply? I thought it was a fixed fee for the service.

In that case, I'll not be replying to anyone that sends me an EVE Mail and attempts to charge me to reply.
Where does the ISK go? To the sender?

Edited by: Elgar1 on 21/09/2006 21:00:56 So theres no benefit to anyone in raising your CSPA fee?
Seems a bit silly having it there at all if the money is just wasted. Seesm ripe for exploitation. I can see someone setting theirs to 1 mill and then spamming EVE mails just to bankrupt others.

No idea how you got on block (this is my alt). There isn't any auto block on.
I did get a chat prompt. I thought I presses OK, but no chat opened up. I guess I must have blocked you by mistake.

It's capped at 100k for precisely that reason. And it warns you clearly and up front of the fee. It's an anti-spam measure.

I see the warning, but after you get half a dozen of those all at 100 ISK, you generally stopped reading them. They were just like spam you automatically hit ok on.
Surely the fee should be on EVE mails sent (unsolicitied). It should not be charged to replies.

When they first changed the CSPA charges, you could set it to whatever you want. Lots of people lost a crap load of ISK to not watching. Fear the Ibis of doom!

Add em to your address book or directly to the evemail allowed list (you can add corperations to the list too) and you won't charge them. The option is there.

Edited by: Elgar1 on 21/09/2006 22:01:01 A shame you can't put a sig that anyone sending you a message would see before they get to send.
You could put in there that you'll not reply if they have a charge on it.
I still think replies should not be charged. Only initial messsages.
Maya, thats fine for you charging them (my fee is set to zero anyway). My problem is when replying to their message, I'm being charged just to reply.

That's your choice. Have fun. It's a game mechanic which prevents certain sorts of abuse. I don't really get why CCP allowed it to be anything other than 100 ISK (or 0 ISK), but there we go.

You can always ask the persons you contact to put you into their "allowed" list, so there won't be any charge for you to send them a mail. It's the tab in the Inbox settings right next when you put the charge (there is also a disallowed list). _____________________________

To ask them entails sending them a mail in the first place? Unless you both happen to be on at the same time.
