This probably anoyys a few people but doesn't really register alot on most peoples radar. But gate advertising bugs the heck out of me in its current form, simply because a gate surrounded by 20 or so can's increases the load time for a system, plus can flood overview if you've got cargo containers set to show.
So how about providing an alternative thats better for both the game and the advertisers.
A scrolling text message above gates names, so that it doesn't appear on the overview but appears over the actual gate itself and for a certain ammount of isk rental each (number of different time periods) a slot in that message can be bought.
This creates both cleans up gate area's, generates a new isk sink for the game, and makes it far easier for CCP to censor any adverts that aren't in the best intrest of the game, ie isk sellers.

This really grates me aswell, can't we have a 200km exclusion zone around gates that stops people from anchoring cans?

How about those CONCORD Billboards? Let PC corps/Alliances put ads on them. Another ISK sink at the higer levels can't be bad.

just sit out 200km plus and shoot them. but that gets me to another point. how come it takes me 30 minutes to destroy a secure can but 5 min for a BS. k times been exagerated but come one. a can in my mind should not be able to take the abuse of a BS

An indepth fix:
1. Cans may not be anchored within 1,000km of a large collidable object (or, translated, station/gate)
2. Advertisement text can be bought for ISK on a per-system basis for a limited amount of time on the billboards (also billboards should be added to in-station environment)
3. CCP case-by-case approved image advertisement can be bought on billboards' every third cycle. One cycle is CONCORD most wanted, one cycle is NPC advertisement, and the last cycle is player adverts.
What say you? This space for rent?

Hmm i really like this idea [nods], this would at least solve some of the can spamming we get afterall there are still the belts to clean up.
