Anyone know if these things are getting anymore bonus's or just a higher natural one, seems like the amount of time it takes to train them seems pretty pointless for the small amount that you get from them, also... what is the bonus for the the Wing Command skill, what is the main purpose of that skill supposed to be?

You know that the gang mods get 100% extra for each level of their relevant warfare spec skill and 50% extra per level of squadron command right?
That's 15% straight off. +50% extra for a warfare mindlink, that's 22.5% effectiveness to all gang mods. One seige warfare or armored warfare passive defence mod can give an entire fleet + 22.5% to all armor resists or all shield resists. That's an EANM to all ships on top of whatever resists they already have with no stacking penalty.
If you fit the correct mods to the correct command ships as well then you get +3% effectiveness per level for command ship skill as well, taking the total to 45% effectiveness if you have command ships, squadron command, information warfare specialist all to level 5 and then an information warfare mindlink on top of that. Fit an Eos with 3 information warfare mods and have it sit at a safe spot and now your entire fleet has 45% stronger ECM, 45% less chance of being jammed and 45% faster locktime.
Those skills would all take a while to get up to level 5, but like anything else in this game if you decide to spec in gang warfare mods you'll be able to get a lot out of them. If you're not willing to invest training time into them and just want to stick an armour resist mod to a prophecy with armoured warfare spec on level 3 then you're not gonna get much return from it.

what about the Wing Command skillbook, it says in the description that it increases the flagships command bonus's, although i think it's coming in Kali because i cannot find it on the market anywhere, and i do plan on training all those leadership ksils to use all that stuff, i read something that said it was lower than that, but i suppose in a very large gang those bonus's really do help a lot.

Er, no. AIUI with command ship 5 you get a 15% improvement to the 15%, i.e. 1.15 * 15 = 17.25%, not a 15% improvement added to the 15%! So with a mindlink the figure would be 25.875% as compared to 22.5% without the bonus.
Which is why there is a common PoV that the command ship bonus is pretty pointless atm and needs a boost!

really? wow that is pointless.
that's why i guessed it was 3% base increase not 3% of what you already have. the 22.5% increase without taking into account command ships is still pretty damn good for some of the bonuses that are on offer from command mods though.

you donŠt need a command ship to get decent boni from leadership, something which is overestimated by the majority. with good leadership skills (mindlink!) plus sq 5 you can use a normal bc for the 3 gangmods of your favourite leadershipskill. it takes much less time to be almost as effective and afterwards there is enough time to train for the commandship to get the icing on the cake (and the much better ship) if you are a "new player". in the meantime you are for sure not one of the primary targets as in a well known commandship like the claymore ;o)

Edited by: Cadman Weyland on 22/09/2006 16:34:39 Edited by: Cadman Weyland on 22/09/2006 16:33:32 I have a question.
I have all the leadership skills at 5 (inc mining foreman) and all the specialsations at 4. Currently fly a Damnation but can fly others.
Ive used the Damnation from a safe spot with extra Command procs fitted and been able to fit 5 modules, 2 armour, 1 siege, 1 skirmish, 1 info.
Percentage wise, is it worth training the specialisations to lvl 5, or is it just a time sink ?
Edit... have to add, I love Sengh and wanna have his babies. The guy is the master of all things gang mod related

choose 1 spec and bring it to 5 for the mindlink. If it is an alt char however, bring as many as you want to 5 and use jump clones for each of the specs. However the key thing to note is that you can only have 1 mindlink fitted at a time, so the improvement is vastly reduced having a spec @ 5 that is outside the mindlink you have fitted. ---------------------------------------- Back for a month cus BS5 finished..... |

No, they are placed in the same stack with other hardeners.

Yes and no.
At thier basest level, command ships are just souped-up Battlecruisers, and you CAN use them as such. -------------------

if you wanna be sitting at a safespot and not ever seeing a shot (not that bad an idea with all the lag going around these days) yes its a good idea. But yeah its boring as hell. On the odd chance someone tries to probe you, pop another observator and away you go. ---------------------------------------- Back for a month cus BS5 finished..... |
