I'm sitting here.. About to fail this agent mission..
My agent wants me to mine 140 units of kermite. And I've jumped to three systems already. All have kermite. But because the other asteroids are so huge, I can't get my ship close enough to mine the Kermite.
This is a MAJOR BUG!!! And I want to know what is being done to resolve this.
5 R&D Agents, 10months, Zero BPO Offers.. Onboard navigational [Planetary Avoidance] computer.
My account will be suspended at the end of the current play period. Expires on 19. September 2004 |

Not a bug. You just mine the other roids first to get to the goodies.

From the last CSM:
Quote: TomB> Asteroids don't spawn at the same location after X time, they spawn at some other asteroid fields
TomB> So most of the asteroid fields located at the edges of the world are getting richer and richer, and there are also alot of bugged asteroid fields that are getting people bounced out.
TomB> We tried to fix it this downtime, but no luck, we will try it again this week

Sounds like a possible variation of Deep Core Mining lol. Might have an idea here too. Make a roid that the very outside is Veldspar, but the core of it be Bistot. Think of all the noobs wetting themselves when they come across some Bis in Luminare. You can say it is becuase of the gravity/pressure put on the center has reformed the molecular structure of the rock :)
/implants ideas into dev teams head "make the centers of extreemly large roids have a "juicy" center"

Probably fixed when the introduce deep core mining in one year.
I'm sure the 500 remaining players will be happy then.

At least make it so that you can can mine a roid's surface instead of the core. If a roid is 150km wide or so, theres no way you can attempt to remove it yourself, because you'll always be miles away from the correct mining distance.
Yes, I mine too. Surprised? You shouldn't be.

Actually mining lasers do cut from the surface (although drones don't) but the problem is targetting roids, which uses the core of the roid as a reference point.
I cleared a bugged asteroid belt once (the planet sized ones that bounce you out of them) using some tagetting range mods to help with targetting the monsters that showed up on my roid scanner (which also measures distance from roid "skin") and then cutting them with mining lasers only. Took two weeks, but I was between corps and bored, and the huge asteroids inside the 12-16 bugged Scordites was impressive.
There's a whole thread about how to do this in the mining forum I think. BW

Here's an idea.... allow us to use Torpedos to blow the huge asteroids apart into smaller ones.
Would be a workable fix I would have thought? -------------------------------------------

My mama always told me I was special and this proves it...I've never had any problems targeting massive roids. I've cleared out a few of those behemoth, moon-sized infestations and I've always been able to target them because the range to the 'roid has been a negative number (implying that I'm inside which is likely since the 'roids claim to be 1000s of km across...)

I mined many plant sized roids with no problem... including a couple ones with 3 BILLION Radius (Scordite of course), using 1 of 3 possible ways to get into mining rage of them.
I would list them here, but after CCP despawned ALL the roids there to baby-roids due lazy ppl complaints, i will just say "user yer lazy heads for finding the solutions".
With bugs way more important than big roids, ppl go whine about stuff that only needs some thinking to fix.

Probe, you must have a relative working for CCP to accept current state of affairs as workable.
It's broken, your fix doesn't work for all applications...and they broke it, didn't fix it for lazy players.
I just want to know if they are going to fix the respawn...most systems are reduced to kitty litter and giant scordites. _______________________________________________

Most systems aren't, actually, just the busiest ones.
tip; go to a system that has no stations in empire space, fit a few sensor boosters and mine Planet Scordite away. I'm sure you'll find nice and juicy little roids hidden inside

They changed locking on roids so you have to be close to the out side not to the middle there for you dont need the boosters :)

We all know of the baby roid problem, and the only way to be sure of its fixing, is that WE do it ourselves.
Those strip mining corps we all hear complaints about, are helping to fix this problem, as long as someone keeps tabs on a field.
OK, so they may get a good take for that days mining, but it doesn't take much effort for smaller groups to contain a field, taking a mix of ores, including the Kernite/Omber.
If it is a programming issue, and not a major one on the 'list of things to fix' then it will be down to us, the occupants of Eve to fix it ourselves, whilst battleship mining is still safe! (See Dev Blog)
Oh well, rant over.
